I don't know enough about it to say which would be best but I'd like to see them be their own country. They've always resented the UK (unlike Wales for example) so now is the time to back that up with action.
I imagine the Spanish crown is watching this with some interest. If the "Yes" vote wins, expect Catalonia and the Basque country to push hard for a referendum too.

Catalonia already are, quite intensely. I reckon the referendum just happening will already be plenty of fuel for them. The march in Barcelona last week speaks for itself.
Voting ended an hour ago, off to sleep. I'll throw in a random guess, 53% no. Will see if I was any close tomorrow morning..
Either way the Scots will do well. If it is no they still get a load of powers and concessions. Or at least they were promised such. They also wouldn't have to worry about currency and NHS.
If it's yes then anything could happen. But not for a little while.

Even thought it's a NO, it's going to impact on England going forward: we'll now be the Constitutionally United Federal Kingdom. Or CUFK for short. Geddit? No going back, we're going to be the US, only a much smaller version. Oh, haven't I heard that before somewhere??
