What an actor. Performances of pure class. A supporting role under Hitchcock started him off. An Oscar for Ed Wood at aged 66.

Proof, it's never too late to really make your mark.

Whether he was hamming it up in Without Warning or Alone in the Dark or doing prestige films like Ed Wood or Crimes and Misdemeanours, he was always completely captivating. Such an amazing talent.

RIP for sure...a great actor.

I remember seeing the 2 above movies at the theater when they were released, and to this day, remember numerous scenes from tehm.

But the true classic Mr. landau starred in, was 1983's, The Being - one of the very worst movies of all time, but so fucking terrible, it's amazingly great.  Ruth Buzzi was also on board for this hilarious ride.  If you ever get the chance, you owe yourself a favor to watch it.

The Being is one of those movies I'm shocked I haven't seen. I've always been drawn to the cover art and in exploitation circles it's fairly highly regarded. That's it! I'm watching it this week in honour of Landau!

Oh, you're in for a true treat!  I highly recommend getting very high or drunk while viewing.

There are so many classic scenes and lines, like...

When Landau's character says there's no danger to the town's water when dumping toxic waste into the aqueduct.

The Being is a HUGE creature, yet, it's somehow able to get into a car by squeezing through the A/C vents...

and...

hide in a small hole during an Easter egg hunt.

The finale is pure gold as The Being is being pulled along on a skateboard or something and is so obvious.

I need to watch this again myself!!!

RIP.

I saw a video of him at the playboy mansion when I was young. He was sitting in a robe much like Hugh Hefner and had a girl, about 20 years old on his lap.

I can't get that image out of my head every time I think of him. It kinda ruined watching him in movies. I kept thinking - there's that pervy old man.

Anyway, great actor. Here's an underrated movie with him in it that rarely gets talked about: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104892/

Watching The Being now and after that highway decapitation and drive inn scene, I'm truly ashamed it's taken me this long to see this.
