The timer is ticking...July 27th! Has there been a general theme for the July OWCs? I need to check what it was last year.

I'm ready. Bring it on!

I think that’s just in time for me to get through the reads before I go camping in mid-August. I’m stoked!

I think there are clues to what's instore this OWC with Don's post in 'Questions and Comments'. He's asking what we think is our best work we've posted on Simply Scripts.

I'm having a difficult time making that choice. Maybe I'll sleep on it.

Specifically the best thing that clocks in at ten pages or less. So if this IS a hint, the hint is that the O in OWC will actually stand for "one" instead of "oodles"

Feature-length scripts:
Who Wants to Be a Princess? (Family)
Glass House (Horror anthology)

TV pilots:
"Kord" (Fantasy)
"Mal Suerte" (Superhero)

Additional scripts are listed here.

I think the "shh..." is the clue.

Your assignment, should you choose to accept it: Adapt A Quiet Place as a radio play.

But when a lit cigar becomes a penis, I feel very sorry for wherever it's inserted...like Stevie's arse!

I'm in, but I do have a staycation starting earlier that day at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge, so no computer access until Monday for this Big kid.  I just hope it's something decent, as the last few have not been my cup of tea.

Bring it on!!

No idea what's in the plans. Sadly, I'm too busy too write something myself, but I'll read a few. Hopefully, they won't be all 20 page scripts. I do not have the time to read those. Sorry.

After recent marathon events I hope the page count will be low.

Ha! Says me who has never posted a script to the boards under 10 pages.

Comedy ain't easy.

My favourite genres are thriller, psychological thriller, horror, but my writing generally gravitates to comedy, or at least lighter fare.

I love watching laugh out loud, slapstick and physical comedy, and observational stuff like Woody Allen did in his early years, but it's not easy to get right.

I learned from Dan's challenge that some of my favourite comedies to watch like: Frasier, Cheers, Friends, King Of Queens, they're really not that funny on the page - there's a lot more drama with comedic moments, and seasoned actors bring them to life.

What programs make you all laugh? Not skit shows like Python, but actual programs billed as sitcoms? Just curious...

Peep Show, LC, every time. It was on ABC OR SBS over your way a while back I think, absolutely top notch comedy. The British one mind, not the US attempt. Also Silicon Valley is next level too...

Any good Aussie ones? Kath and Kim? Wog Boys (real thing)? Chris Lilley efforts?

And...14 days left, does this mean the thing goes live today???

The challenge has already been set, but you can always pm Don and tell him you'd be interested in running an OWC in the future.

Obviously there is a proper time and place for the ceremony, but there's no harm in gathering the materials ahead of time. Most of them will keep for months in the fridge, except of course for the live chicken.

Since this is supposed to be a One Week Challenge, it will be all over by August 10th (give or take a month). I'm sure there is some preparation and packing involved, but hopefully not so much that we'd miss you in the challenge.

This time is a big one - from Azerbaijan to the US. And I'm traveling with a cat! So much to do before then.
And also, these challenges are "not only but also". But also you have to do the reads. And I'm not sure I'll have time the last days before the departure. But let's see. That's if I manage to keep away from the OWC)) I never can.

Pro: You'll understand all the Trump jokes better.
Con: Customs will keep your pet human in quarantine for two weeks.

Nooo. Are you sure? They don't tell anywhere on websites. My poor kitty won't survive that. He's scared of other people.
I think he actually might die if he stays away from me and in quarantine.

I don’t know the particulars , so I’d bug the US Consolate or whoever is managing your paperwork. The important thing is to get a definite answer rather than some wishy-washy “they handle that at the port of entry.” The answer will depend on the flight’s origin, the kind of animal, and possibly the destination state inside the US (for example, Hawaii has stricter controls for dogs than the country as a whole).

Traveling with a human always complicates things for a cat.

Best of luck with your move.

Aha! Thanks for the examples, Cam. Yep, they're still showing Peep Show here (I came to the party late on that one) and Kath & Kim was enjoyable, though seems a bit hackneyed now. Chris Lilly's first efforts: clever boy, him!

Fawlty Towers still makes me laugh despite endless repeat viewings.
And, though not a sitcom, Mock The Week makes me laugh.
