Fox has enlisted brothers Ridley and Tony Scott to helm an Alien prequel!

As long as Ridley is involved I don't see this as being too bad. The only major problem I see them having is a stable plot. Chances are they will go with the back story to the Space Jockeys and how the space ship crashed onto the planet before Nostromo made it's Ill-fated rescue attempt. Here's the problem, they don't speak English! So do they subtitle the entire film or somehow include the ever so bumbling human element?

Along with Robert Rodriguez and Predators, the next few years should be interesting for Fox. What say you?

If Ridley Scott's involved then it certainly gives the project much more credibility in my book. The fact they they're going back to tell the Space Jockey story then that's another plus in my book. After four Alien movies (and two AVP clusterfucks) it is about time to re-introduce that creature (which we really don't know anything about).

And, yes, they do need humans in this movie - nobody's gonna want to sit though a movie with nothing but weird alien-talk. I don't think it's a problem, since the Special Order 937 from the original Alien movie suggested that the Company had prior knowledge of this creature.

Good point! Plus, there is a ton of other material like comics and novels for them to work with.

Wasn't Alien vs. Predator a prequel?

Sort of but AVP concentrated more on the backstory of the two races at war, not a backstory on the xenomorphs.

Wait. So are the brothers co-directing? Producing and directing? Writing? Link please.

Anyway, this actually sounds pretty cool. Ridley Scott isn't one of my favorite directors but he's done some pretty decent stuff, even aside from Alien and Blade Runner. In any case, it seems the series should come full circle with him back in the captain's seat. Tony Scott hasn't done anything all that great since True Romance but then again, he's basically done the same kinda movie ever since. Maybe he'll mix it up some in Alien. Bottom line, I don't think there's a lot of fans out there who haven't been waiting for this one. Good news, indeed.

I'm actually pretty psyched for Predators as well. Both of Rodriguez's scripts sound interesting. I don't think they're using either but it does give some sense of where this could be coming from.

Also, technically AVP is a prequel but I don't think the series are really related except for the characters. They shouldn't be anyway. There was a sequel, after all.

The brothers Scott are producing, and have selected a director. However, the studio wants Ridley to direct.

As far as a link goes, just google Alien Prequel.

It's about time we had another decent Alien movie (although I liked the AVPs for the sole purpose of that Alien coming through a bedroom in the second; been waiting years to see that). With Scott on board it looks like it shouldn't be another hack job, unless something goes horribly wrong.

I hope we get to see the Alien planet in this one, I always imagined the planet almost being like the inside of Giger's head, which would be seriously fucked up, in an awesome way though. Here's hoping.

Ridley Scott almost never makes a bad movie. This should be good

Isle 10- A series I'm currently writing with my friend Adam and it will go into production soon. Think The Office meets 10 Items or Less.

Do you know he was Timothy Leary's closest friend? That  explains a lot...

No, I didn't. I don't even know who that is.   Who is he?

I always loved Geiger's (I think that's how you spell his name) artwork though. They were fantastic...yet severely messed up at the same time. Did anyone see the concept sketches he did for Alien 3?

Who is he??

Quoted Text
Timothy Francis Leary (October 22, 1920 – May 31, 1996) was an American writer, psychologist, futurist, and advocate of psychedelic drug research and one of the first people whose remains have been sent into space. An icon of 1960s counterculture, Leary is most famous as a proponent of the therapeutic and spiritual and emotional benefits of LSD.
