The new trailer has got me so pumped up about this movie. Empire have done a shot by shot disection of the new trailer and it's FULL OF SPOILERS (though they are only conjecture) so only read this if you don't mind going into the movie pre-armed with some pretty cool preconceptions.
For some reason, in the theatrical trailer, they left out the shot from the teaser trailer where we see Charlize Theron's very, very tasty buns (in spandex).
Down in the hole / Jesus tries to crack a smile / Beneath another shovel load
Apparently the link I sent you was for the UK trailer and the US one is slightly different. Can't comment on that but Empire magazine do this a lot with trailers, the Hobbit and Avengers trailer breakdowns are in there somewhere too!
excellent interview with Ridley and writer Damon Lindelof about Prometheus....
one of the best questions asked is... The Chestbuster part in Alien is one of the most harrowing scenes ever on film.... are there any treats like that in this movie?
Ridley Scott smiles/grimaces and goes.... Ooooh yeah.
I read in the ultimate Alien collectors book that apparently, one early concept was that the space jockey could create life by rearranging DNA of other species. Looking at the trailer, it seems this might be one of the plot points. I also read that an earlier concept for the alien reproductive cycle was that eggs are actually made by the Alien from other species organic matter. The Ripley finding Dallas and later finding Lambert deleted scenes show them seemingly changing and being chrysalised, not just coccooned as shown in Alien.
I was also a massive fan of Lost but that show had a lot of mysteries/questions that never got solved or answered by the end. I hope Prometheus doesn't go down this route and leave the viewer hanging.
