Batman is pissed at Superman for all the mega destruction that happened during the end of Man of Steel so he tries to stop him. Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor join the party.

This film looks awful to me.  I don't know what it is, but something tells me this movie is going to be hot garbage.  Ben Affleck as Batman?  Really?  I know people had a similar reaction when Heath Ledger was cast as Joker, but this is Ben Affleck we're talking about here.

I can handle Affleck as Batman. He isn't going to be as good as Bale was, but I doubt anyone will better Bale's turn anytime soon. This will be different enough I think.

I've see the occasional trainer and it appears okay to me. There was too much fighting in the last one. I suspect this one may have the same problem. But it had a few good moments. I'll watch it.

There was a brief appearance of Wonder Woman in one trailer. It didn't help.

I think the plot is summed up quite well by CameronD. Sounds about right from what I've heard so far.

Not so sure I'll drag myself to a cinema to see it yet. Maybe a wait for the the dvd. Unless I hear it's great enough times to persuade me.

And Max, that gif thing in your sig is somewhat disturbing. Does it have to stay there?

i held out hope for it.... but the more previews i see the more hokey it gets.... plus with all the characters jammed in there it looks like way too much for a 2 hour movie.
plus as everyone is noting....it's a miscasted extravaganza.

I rate Ben Affleck now... after seeing Gone Girl. Used to think he was a weak actor, but as in all things, experience and hard work eventually pays off. Same can be said for Affleck. Plus age helps too. He's actually got real experiences to draw from now.

In regard to Batman, I think he could do a great job. However, the screenwriters and filmmakers themselves will obviously fuck it up. Batman v Superman is a mistake, IMO... but my kids all love the idea.

I think Affleck has got better as an actor, The Town, Argo and Gone Girl... but I don't think he is going to me the issue, or Cavill who I think makes a decent Superman... from the trailers it looks like the issue is gonna be that it's an effects heavy, bangy, smashy superhero film... a re-boot of one of the best superheros... by a director known for style over substance...

I'm worried!

Female opinion:

Thumbs up for Ben Affleck!
He looks the part imh.

I should add so as it's not just about beefcake - I'm in agreement with Dustin, I think he's really evolved as an actor, and he's a pretty darned good director.

IMO the more characters you add, the more you take away from the concept. This movie is called Batman vs Superman. When you add Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman etc, you take away from the selling point of the movie and it gets more convoluted. At least for me.

I already know they pulled a bait and switch. They made it out as this movie is going to be a battle between Batman and Superman, and from the trailer it's obvious that they're teaming up.

I have no interest in watching this now. When the teaser came out with those "false god" graffiti, I thought they might be on to something. But when the longer trailers started coming out, and especially since the one with Wonder Woman hit the internet, I lost all interest.

They need Wonder Woman and the others (Aquaman, etc) to set up the Justice League franchise and properly compete with Marvel, whom DC is already way behind. I think it's as simple as that.

I  won't be seeing it. These types of films are my Kryptonite.

Hmmm - just thought of a title for a horror film: "Crypt  Tonight"

I terms of Ben Affleck - I concur that he has come along way and my wife never minds the eye candy.

I don't think there will be much of Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Just enough to get the ball rolling with their own franchise

I agree with you about the trailer. They showed way too much. We sll know doomsday is the villian and they team up. They could have just had Batman and superman fighting and left the rest as a suprise.

I'm excited for Battfleck but that's about it. The trailer looks forced, lackluster, and unfocused. As others have mentioned, I don't see why they needed to include Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Doomsday, etc. But therein lies the problem, producers and franchise building. Neither Marvel films nor DC movies can be standalone movies anymore. They have to be a part of the bigger picture. Even Guardians of the Galaxy had to play into the whole  Thanos storyline (and I would argue it's the weakest part of the movie).

That being said, DC just flat out sucks. I couldn't be less excited for BvS, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, etc. Nobody cares about any of the characters. Maybe the comics just don't translate well to film.

Side note, the new Civil War trailer looks pretty slick. The superhero bubble needs to pop but until then, they're going to squeeze every nickel and dime out of the genre.

I know. I just don't think it's the right move. Iron Man 3 made like over 1.2 billion. The last two Batman movies made over a billion. While Age of Ultron made like 1.4. You don't need to bunch together everyone to make a lot of money. They should just focus on making good movies. If the movie is good, the money will come.

Superheros teaming up is what people want. Avengers 1 and 2 are in the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time. That's saying something isn't it?

You couldn't be more wrong. I, along with millions of other people love these characters and can't wait to see them on screen.

Heath Ledgers joker was one of the best Characters ever I have seen. These characters can DEFINITELY translate to screen.

From what I've seen of Suicide Squad (which I had never heard of until a few months back lol) the version of Harley Quinn (ironically played by an Aussie, Margot Robbie) looks like a cupie doll. She should be the carbon copy of the char in the Arkham video games!  Looks totally ridiculous.  And don't even mention Marilyn Manson playing the Joker lol

It was what the people wanted, but that's not going to last forever. The superhero bubble will pop. In fact, I wouldn't doubt if BvS doesn't make as much money as the studios expect and it starts to shake their confidence in the genre. Furthermore, just because it's a box office hit doesn't necessarily make it a good movie. Age of Ultron was god awful and The Avengers was mediocre at best. So no, how much a movie makes worldwide doesn't mean much to me.

Yeah, The Dark Knight is one of the most overrated films in cinema history IMHO. And if Heath Ledger didn't OD, then no one would have remembered his performance. Name one other character from the DC universe that people enjoy on film. Superman sucks, Green Lantern really sucks, Aquaman is going to suck. Marvel trumps DC at almost every turn, but especially on camera.

In regard Wonder Woman, I honestly feel that her appearance in this film is merely to boost the viewing public's knowledge of her before they release the Wonder Woman franchise. Bit of a con, that the screenwriter MUST wrangle a Wonder Woman sub plot in there just so we want to spend money at the theatre to see her when her own film comes out.

I do kinda like the idea of Wonder Woman though... and I think it would have worked without this appearance in Batman. I used to watch the old series as a kid.

Damn, now I'm doing exactly what they want, I'm pushing Wonder Woman for them. I'm nothing but a sheep. Baa.

Well James, keep in mind that those reviews are just opinions. And opinions mean nothing in movie making. All film making is subjective. Nothing is good and nothing is bad.

Alright, I'm done being a pissant. 40 reviews deep and it's currently sitting at a 40% on RT. Critics are saying it's overly drab, devoid of any humor, and downright boring. It's almost as if the filmmakers forgot to make the movie fun. Not that movies have to be fun, but a superhero film shouldn't be a chore to watch.

Oh and I've heard Doomsday looks outright horrendous. Less like a movie and more like a video game.

Let's all hope the disappointing box office numbers will deter WB from continuing this lifeless franchise.

Considering Rotten Tomatoes gave Sharknado a rating of 84% just shows that they're a bunch of morons.

I'm going to see BvS tonight because I love Batman and I can guarantee I'm going to love the movie.  I don't really care what reviews say about the film because at the end of the day, it's not up to them to determine if I like it.

It's like people are afraid to enjoy something that the big bad critics don't deem good enough.  Quite pathetic.

Anyway, I'm going to spank it over Gal Gadot in her Wonder Woman gettup.

Peace out knob jockeys.

RT don't give the scores. They gather reviews from different critics and get their percentage from that. Similar to Metacritic.

I pretty much hated MoS and really don't rate Zack Snyder at all. I'm a big fan of Batman though and had hopes of Affleck doing a decent job.

I'll watch this in a couple of months..

I have no reason to doubt the critics. Snyder has a dismal track record in my book, and Man of Steel was a slog that I could barely enjoy on IMAX while intoxicated. If that weren't the case and I gave more of a shit, I might disregard the reviews, but it is, I don't, and I have little incentive from the other direction. I might still check it out for Jeremy Irons and to see what all the Affleck fuss is about, but I'm certainly in no rush at this point.

Happily missing this in theatres. I see two movies a week, but Deadpool and X-Men will be my only comic book ventures this year. The bubble of mediocre bullshit isn't gonna pop until, y'know, we stop.

Man of Steel was the biggest insult to a modern myth since Abrams' Star Trek, in my opinion.

I saw it and it was great, haha.  It is a comic book movie made for comic book fans and Ben Affleck is a bad ass Batman.

The line for the cinema was the longest I have ever seen before.  Thank goodness I booked Gold class because I'm a snazzy cunt.

I'm going to it next week. Once I clean my coat and the milk/newsagent shop reopens.

Until then, I'll reserve my judgement, unlike Donald Trump.

Apparently, I also have to buy a new window. Why? No idea. Mine are fine. Maybe someone is building a new arse type coffee table.

Ooh, the bike works. I'll be going now.

I saw it and it was great, haha.  It is a comic book movie made for comic book fans and Ben Affleck is a bad ass Batman.

I would be more inclined to believe you if it weren't for the simple fact that most comic book fans really hate the movie as well. So maybe you're a comic book fan with poor tastes in movies?

Look, it's okay to like terrible movies. I like a lot of terrible horror flicks. But I'm the first to admit that they're severely flawed. The fact that you praised the movie without any critiques whatsoever is a bit concerning (disregarding the fact that you made a reference to fapping to wonder woman...classy and original).

So let me ask you this, objectively speaking, what did you think about the film? Since you already mentioned Batfleck as a strength (which I've also heard), what were its weaknesses?

Personally I think it could have been half an hour shorter and still tell the exact same story. The start was a lot weaker than the end.

There were some really corny lines, but hey, what's a Hollywood hit without them?

SPOILER!! For anyone that might want to see it.

Batman forgives Superman too easily and seems to completely forget why he wants him gone in the first place.

Doomsday was killed too easily and Batman really did nothing in the final fight except run away from him.

A few nit things, but all in all I really enjoyed it.  On par with the first Avengers in my books.

You're determined to hate it, without even seeing it. Weird.

This is not true. I will voice my opinion once I see it, if I see it. Till then I have no way of knowing if I'll like it or not.
