I'm off enjoying the holidays, but I wanted to say a brief thank you to everyone who has supported the site over the year. Particular thanks to Pia, Bert and Sean without whom the discussion board would not exist. Thank you to everyone who has run a challenge and commented on a script. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the screenwriting community. There are too many people to name so I will not try.
It has been a banner year for members getting work optioned and produced. By my best rough count, there have been over a hundred scripts optioned as a result of being on the site. This says more about us as a community helping each other out than it does about the site itself. The community is not the site, but the people who contribute to it.
Also, since the advertising on the site has been more than enough to cover hosting and bandwidth, we've been able to donate roughly $800 over the course of the year to film projects and writing labs.
Best wishes of the season to all, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you for providing a springboard. Bets of luck to all of the members I have gotten to know, even the ones, like Jeff, that I don't see eye to eye with all the time.
Merry Christmas Don, and thank you for the unwavering support you have always provided this scriptwriting community. A lot of you may not know or fully appreciate just how much Don supports the writers on this site. And I will always appreciate his checking in with me during Hurricane Harvey to make sure we were safe down here in Houston.
Happy new year, and may 2018 be the best year yet in getting scripts produced!

Some of my scripts:
Bounty (TV Pilot) -- Top 1% of discoverable screenplays on Coverfly I'll Be Seeing You (short) - OWC winner The Gambler (short) - OWC winner Skip (short) - filmed Country Road 12 (short) - filmed The Family Man (short) - filmed The Journeyers (feature) - optioned
By my best rough count, there have been over a hundred scripts optioned as a result of being on the site.
For those of us that remember the old days, this is quite remarkable. A testament to both the site itself and its madhouse denizens. Quality of submissions, as a whole, has also improved over the years.
Don't let Don be too humble, though. He is the engine that runs this place. I have been in lurker mode for a while, posting little and writing even less. Like hawkeye, hurricane season certainly didn't help things much for Florida, either.
Hopefully the new year brings a bit more down-time to change that.
Cheers to a site and community that is truly like no other. I remain quite proud of our little corner of the interwebs.
Even though Im a lurker now, I really appreciate this site.. I learned a lot from here. Thanks Don for creating this website and the writers involved here. Might as well get this out of the way as well, happy new year to all and best wishes to your writing endeavors.

Just Murdered by Sean Elwood (Zombie Sean) and Gabriel Moronta (Mr. Ripley) - (Dark Comedy, Horror) All is fair in love and war. Merry Christmas, Don. And a HUGE thanks for all the hard work everyone puts in here. Without this site, this community, I doubt if I ever would have gotten past writing short stories. Much success to everyone in the future!
Thanks for everything, Don! You have been very fair and consistently so throughout all these years. You've always been supportive of everyone. Especially the really young members. Some of them still kids. I miss the energy they brought. This place has changed over time, matured if you will, but if it wasn't for you steering this "ship" it might have gone the way the other early screenwriting sites have gone. By that I mean gone. You're definitely doing something right with this site!
Another regular-turned-lurker here. Total support to SimplyScripts, Don, and everyone else who makes this place possible. The site's definitely come a long, long way since I first started posting here. Merry (belated) Christmas and happy holidays to all!
