Well at the very least the real writer should be flattered.

Just got the voting form.
I feel like I remember people voting on their own scripts last OWC. Can anyone clarify what the go is for this challenge? If everyone votes for their own it essentially cancels out but if some do and some don't it can potentially affect the result. |

Well, if I am in charge of deciding that... I would rather people not vote on their own script.
I don't think it should count. |

So are we going with that as the final word on the matter? |

Only participating writers are allowed to vote. If you vote for your own, it won't be counted. Don's got it figured. |

Warren, congrats !! I am very happy for you. You've written some solid things here!!
Can I ask you or anyone how you go about trying to sell something?? How do you know where to go or trust? How do you know when something is ready to be sold??
I know my writings have been pretty aweful, so a major rewrite or 3 might be needed, but at some point I'd like to try my hand at selling.
I admit that I'm scared. And I have no clue where to start.
Lastly, for this event, I'm really pissed at myself for my choice. It was stated that speaking heavy scripts wouldn't be successful, so what do I come up with? A speaking heavy script. I mean, how stupid am I???
This is like the fourth script in a row that my script was doomed to fail before I even began because of the choices I made before I started writing. If I am gonna get anywhere, I need to stop shooting myself in the foot, unless the script calls for it, of course.
How do you guys stop these sorts of mistakes in judgement in concept stage before you type the first word?? How do you tell if an idea simply isn't doable within the constrictions listed for each event?? I need to develop this skill quickly if I am to have any success anywhere.
Right now, I'm very discouraged, and my damned pain level has skyrocketed again.
If anyone wants to message me with your thoughts, feel free.

You're putting yourself under a lot of pressure, Dan. And I remember your end of the world script, it was pretty good.
Numbers by Matias Caruso is a dialog heavy script. Black Rose Garden (an absolute favorite of mine) has lots of dialog too. On the other hand they had some powerful visuals too. Just saying) I don't know the formula here. I like lots of dialog in mine but people keep complaining. So what... I'll get better. |
