I think we need a mod from this side of the pond. I'm not suggesting myself as clearly I'm not suitable for... various reasons. In fact, it's probably only me that needs moderating... alongside the odd troll that knows they can get a rise out of me if they simply personally attack me in a thread. Personal attacks should not be tolerated. They can get out of hand and become juvenile. In fact, they're juvenile, to begin with.

We need somebody who is a regular and knows how to measure themselves 100% of the time. At first, I considered Mark Renshaw but his latest comment, where he used 'lectures with famous people' to bolster an argument has kinda put me off a little.

Then I considered Anthony Cawood, but I'm not sure about that guy anymore. I think it's since the Janet incident, I think her name was. I can't be 100% sure whether or not he'd abuse the role. I'm not sure he can keep his emotions in check.

Then I hit upon Scar Tissue Films. Always measured. Solid character. Great writer. He's online a lot with years of experience on the forum. I think he'd make a great mod.

More overstatements. No one "personally attacked" you. You were called out for being a jerk to another member for no apparent reason other than to try and make yourself sound smart, I guess. Then you go on to try and insult three more members, myself included, in this most recent thread you made.

More overstatements.

Not false overstatements?

Ah, so that's what this is about. This is the reason I stopped giving advice to writers on how to write more actively and other pro tips. So, where I believe I'm sharing my advice to help other writers, I am in fact only doing it to make myself sound smart... and this is not limited to pro tips on writing, but indeed, everything. So, all that time I have taken out to help is just to make myself sound smart. Thank you for your opinion.

I do apologise if I have offended any members. I proposed three good mod candidates and shared only my very honest opinions on which one was more suitable for the role based on some very loose connections.

If you think calling someone pathetic (or since you are sometimes all about semantics, calling someone's actions pathetic) for sharing their opinion on something and doing so peacefully is helping anyone, you're wrong.

I think where I went wrong here is in not listing at least a couple of my own many flaws that make me unsuitable for a mod. I'm egotistical and have the juvenile tendency to attack when I'm attacked. I could go on, but I prefer to concentrate on the positives...

I must have missed some comments in another thread looks like, or maybe someone deleted the comments before I could see them.

On this forum, people are just like everyone else out in the real world. Different personalities. Some people you will like and get along with more than others. No difference here. Believe it or not, but this place used to be way more wild. BIG arguments/fights were something that happened weekly, if not daily. I remember someone likened Moviepoet to a tearoom where everyone drank tea with their pinkies in the air and SS as a roadhouse where peolpe drank whiskey and beer and brawls were common.

It is true though that sometimes new members are chased off by abrasive comments from other members. That's a shame because there definitely is a lot most writers can learn here. Especially newer once.

As far as a new Mod goes, I personally thought Libby would be good.

Not sure how Pia, Bert, or Sean were selected but, wouldn’t it better to find out who’s interested in the position and work from there?

Thanks, Pia. I'd be up for it.

At the very least I take that as a compliment.

It's all up to Don. I don't even know if there's a need for another one. I'm not even sure why Dustin started this thread. If there is a need for one though, I think another female from a across a large body of water would be perfect.

You have put in a lot of time and effort here and been very helpful to other writers and I think most, if not all, other members like you.

A mod in Europe and one for down under couldn’t hurt.  I think any website should have 24 hour moderation.

Maybe you should designate your own personal moderator. *smile* Teasin.

Ain't that the Goddamn truth. =)

Now, while this thread did seem to originate out of nowhere, that's not to say that it's not a good point.

You implied that I was stupid because I paid heed to what people in the business had told me and tried to share that knowledge with other people. I was guilty of name dropping in my response to try and emphasise how careful I am in selecting who I pay attention to. I will hold my hand up and say I shouldn't have done that, my ego and anger got the better of me.  However, you are having a go at me over something you've even admitted you've never experienced or attempted.

No-one knows how to measure themselves 100% of the time. You can't put anyone on a pedestal as they are human and will fail.  You list a few people who you thought might hit the mark but then one incident where you didn't agree with them has put you off.

I think the boards are okay as they are. There's not enough activity to warrant more mods and rarely do things fly off the handle.

If someone’s interested in being a moderator, ok. If not, ok too. But I believe the person interested should make that inquiry.

The site has been doing pretty well with only Don, Pia, Bert, and Sean in charge.

On a side note though: I have a complaint against these four, when are we going to see a new script from you ladies and gents?

I'll be Dustin's personal mod. Every time he makes a post, I'll delete it. Joking, joking. No one is perfect, but I've always thought you were a good guy, Dustin.

We just need to be adults and know when to walk away from a potential fight.
