Michael,

being that our secondary characters have a chance to survive and become the killer - thus an integeral part of the game -- wouldnt it make sense to post them here as well?

it would save the time of having to explain them when writing our scenes..

just curious as to how that is going to work?

Let them be a surprise to your fellow players.

When you take your first turn and introduce them you can send me the history and I'll post it in the list with the other characters.

And don't get too set on your second character just yet - you never know what direction the script will take.

Eliot Cantrell, 50s, Special Envoy

A short intense man.

A third generation politician. His sharp wit and abrasive nature remind people of his late mother’s years of service.

Early in his career, he acted as if he was entitled to success. He was accused of not being in touch with the common man and took a bold step to work in the slums of New York for one year. It was in the depths of the slums he dreamed of a plan to save the world.

He now speaks of the need for action to repair the world. The Mars venture is critical to his plan. Mars resources are for Earth, not to grow a colony on Mars. In other words, he sees the project as completely subordinated to Earth. Little more than slaves. He is obsessed with his plan and sees himself as the logical leader to save Earth.

Lexicon

ALAN (Artificial Lexical Algorithm Network) - A computer that manages the base.  It is programmed to speak with a soothing voice.  It knows and sees all.

Last Gate Protocol – A safety protocol to prevent opening of the last gate shut in case of breach. Controlled by ALAN.

Putting me on the spot here, Michael . I'll try and think of my second term when I have time.

Errand Poker - Classic Texas Hold 'em but with a new twist. As money is near useless to the convicts on Mars, new ways to gamble have originated. One of them being Errand Poker where 2-6 convicts play a game of Texas Hold Em. The winner, instead of getting the pot, chooses a job that the losing players have to do. It can range from theft to murder depending on how high the stakes are. The errand is chosen by all the players at the start of the game. If one refuses to complete the errand, his index finger is cut off by the other convicts.

I suck at coming up with these terms, hopefully they don't blow too much.

SKUNT - a slang term used by inmates for authority figures (guards, wardens, politicians).

PURPLE RAIN - a drug used on inmates when they become out of control or start to cause trouble, it makes them docile and more willing to follow commands, effects last only 2 hours.

Prince is on the colony!

I don't know whether to be excited or terrified.

I can't live the buttoned-down life like you. I want it all. The dizzying highs, the terrifying lows, the creamy middles. Sure, I may offend some of the blue bloods with my cocky stride and musky odors. Oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called "city fathers," who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards and talk about what's to be done with this Homer Simpson?

I would just like to say that I hate two of you. I won't say who but somehow, you guys managed to come up with two character names for people in my comic book; my main character and my second main villain. How is that even possible?

Kidding (about hating) but serious about the names. That is an incredible coincidence...

Ok, I have my character one and two terms (1 event and 1 device).

Term 1 is a historical event where I opted to make a War of the Middle East an official big war that will explode eventually in 2031 and last until 2038. While the world had concentrated its forces in Afghanistan, the Taliban had fled to Oman and rebuilt themselves into a concentrated force. Little by little, they took over Oman, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait from the inside out by subtly getting into governmental positions of power. From there, they were able to influence their way into the larger countries of Syria, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. By the time, the world leaders discovered what was going on, they had wormed their way into Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Afghanistan. Forming a coalition between those countries, they drove out all foreign military presence, followed by concerted terrorist attacks on London, Paris, Washington DC, Berlin, Madrid, Beijing, Tokyo, and Moscow. The attacked nations united but had considerable trouble in defeating their enemies since their enemies still existed in their own countries and continued attacking from the inside out. Embargoes on travel were useless, and since their people were in power across multiple countries, it was difficult to know where to attack. The conflict finally came to an end in 2038 with the signing of the treaty of Tegucigalpa (sponsored by Samsunkia, though how anyone arrived at Honduras as a neutral territory for a treaty signing is anyone's guess).

Term 2 is a Sonic Map. This device was used by the military, primarily, to decipher underground tunnels and determine the position of the enemy. It uses a combination of soundwaves, lasers, and infrared light scanning to create a 3 dimensional holographic map above the device including whatever is moving. The range of the mapping is limited to 100 feet, line of sight, and turn angles of less than 70 degrees. Because of what is can do, it was never released into the public and not very many of these devices are in existence. However, Adam Worth is in possession of one of these devices at the beginning of the story to figure out where people are in proximity to him.

Adam Worth 39, Staff, Starting location: Mess

Adam played a role in the War of the Middle East from 2033-2038 constantly behind enemy lines feeding information to the United States, England, France, Germany, and who knows how many other countries. It was always suspected that Adam was working for multiple countries, including the enemy, though no charges could ever be filed as no one ever had any evidence that there was any wrongdoing...or at least, none that anyone lived to tell about. Most of his psychiatric evaluations listed Major Worth as normal, though unofficially, psychiatrists who evaluated him believed he simply answered their questions with what they wanted to hear and told them the stories that would give him that result.

while he officially left the military in 2041, he worked for the CIA for several years before asking to work as security on Mars. His exemplary work record permitted the transfer, but most wondered why he would be interested in such a position. To date, his work ethic and performance have been beyond reproach, but it's possible he might have something to do with this most recent development, though if so, it would be the first time he's ever gotten his hands dirty that anyone is aware of.

He is occasionally addressed by the military personnel on the base as Major Worth, though he is quick to point out that it is simply Mister at this point as he no longer holds any position in any military. He has a near perfect eidetic memory, and thanks to his combat experience, is more than proficient in most weapons. His personality is very logical and calculating to the point that someone's death will only cause him to remark that nothing can be done for them and there is little point in wasting time on it.

Good stuff.

Entry to Martian Mayhem is now closed.   I'll start writing the first few pages very soon.

There's two rounds to this game and everyone gets one turn each round.

The order for the first round is the order you entered.
