I Am Legend by Darcy Villere - Drama - Publish on Fanfiction November 2005. Unpublished, but registered with the WGA. An extremely faithful adaption of Richard Matheson's novella. - html, format
This was my third read today and it wasn't that bad. Way ahead of the other two I read earlier. The format was not that great, but it's possible it had something to do with where it was posted. I was a little confused by the timeline, but that could be due to the eggnog that was consumed while reading.
hey, thanks for the reply and interest in the script. Thanks for the "way ahead" part. I spent a lot of time on it and it's great to hear feedback.
As far as the formatting goes, I can't seem to figure out how to get the formatting that I write it in (Movie Magic Screen Writer) to hold when I post it on fanfiction.
If you have any specific timeline questions you want to ask I'm more than happy to answer.
thanks again
PS: ImagiNation, you got banned for a screenplay? I didn't even know the site existed until I was looking for scripts and found the site. Was yours and original or based on previous material? Because I posted a One-Act play and someone left a nasty comment telling me I'm not supposed to post original that has no basis in previously created material. But banning? That's something I've not heard of.
cool. Cause a friend of mine who helped me revised it said it was a little weird timeline wise in places and I thought we had worked it out.
the funny thing is, I did cut a lot of it. and by a lot, I mean people who are rabid fans will have my head for the stuff I cut. Have you read the novella? I yanked a ton of stuff because I thought it wouldn't play on screen (mostly the science stuff, for a lot of reasons that I could go on and on about). I read another guys script, which was as about 18000 pages with nothing cut, and it was basically a direct copy of the book to script format, not really an adaption in my opinion.
There's also a lot of instances in there where there is a lot of time between him talking and any real action, which might make it seem long. For me, that puts him more alone than anything else because the life of a solitary man is just that, kind of boring and long. When I see this script visualized in my head, it's a lot like a Jim Jaramusch film. Not quite as long as he makes some of his stuff, but in that sort of longish style.
Last thought: I also keep bouncing back between seeing it in black and white as opposed to color.
