I agree! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

Got a good amount of participants as well. ~Zack~

I'm worried what Stevie will come up, with, though, as whatever the sub genre ends up being, he'll have his Bunny Man as the Antag...or maybe even the Protag!

I guess there is really no reason for people to PM me, other than I'd just like to know who is participating.

Welcome.

This is kind of a strange new element to challenges where you have to say you are in before you even know what the complete topic is. I kind of follow from an elbow distance. I'm working on other things, but if a topic hits me, I might enter for fun. For the recent OWC, I received comedy, and I wasn't really into doing a comedy. No big deal, I just stayed out. Is this the new thing though? For some reason you have to commit beforehand, and not everyone gets the same assignment? I'm not complaining, please don't think that. I respect however people want to run it. It has the effect of pushing me from elbow distance to arm's length though...so everyone misses out on my crappy scripts! Good luck though!

I just wanted people to let me know if they were participating so I would know. No real reason beyond that.

And everyone will receive the same two sub genres.

You guys have no idea how excited I am about this topic.  Most of the ideas trapped in my head fall into the horror umbrella somewhere.

I have my ideas for zombie (please let it be zombie because I have an idea that has never been done.

I also have my supernatural, SciFi, fantasy, slasher, monster, and mad scientist.

I actually gave myself a nightmare last night thinking about these stories.

The scariest thing is that most of these stories came from dreams or nightmares in the past.  If we ever get the chance to enter other people's dreams, I bet there won't be anyone wanting to enter mine.  Hell, Freddie Krueger would say it's too creepy for him.

Oh,did any of you know that Krueger is based on a real incident?  It was years ago.  These ex-prisoners all suffered from some sort of hallucination about a human-like creature with a green-like sweater and spikes for hands.  It was after each prisoner at night in their dreams.  They all described to a T this creature.  They said that they were experimented on and their minds were forced to go places it wasn't supposed to go.  They all died in their sleep, screaming for it to leave them alone.

Clive's relative worked in one of the labs and told the filmmaker their fate, and he went on to write Freddie.

Now, this might be the most interesting part.  There was a sleep study done about 2 years ago and one of the subjects claimed they had the ability to "go astral \ethereal" and that night the subject was shown by the instruments to have experienced some sort of phenomena that had never been captured on their equipment before.  The subject confirmed that they had indeed left their body, as they often did.  I saved that article somewhere.

So the question is: did the prisoners minds go somewhere that drew the attention of this creature that led to their deaths??? Pretty scary, isn't it?

Dan

I, too, am very excited for this!  I'm pumped to not only write a new horror short, but also read a slew of new ones.
