Haha,

Tsk tsk tsk, will they ever learn? At least they mentioned the title of your script, I guess that's at least something.

Wow, that really couldn't be more blatant, could it? Give me $300 and access to your bank account and I'll produce your short, for which you'll probably get nothing. Heck, Phil, give me $300 and I'll produce your script.

Ha.  That is clever, and is likely to succeed in some cases.

I would respond that they can have the script for $300 -- please apply it to courier service and agent-sourcing fees.

See what they say.

I've written back, asking what kind of budget will the production have, as well as questions regarding my pay.

If we continue talks, I will point out that the US Court System has prohibited me from transferring money via Western Union until January 2013, when my probation is up.

Good work Phil.

I just got one of them for First Contact. I thought it sounded fishy as soon as they looked for money. Are they supposed to pay us the cheeky blighters?

If they do write back keep us informed. Good man.

Quoted from The reply
Dear Mr. Sanders,

Thank you for taking an interest in my script, Glade Matches Commercial, it really warms my heart. Furthermore, seeing that the renowned international production company, Shoot Rajasthan Film Production, is involved, I’m obviously looking forward to getting this process finalized as quickly as possible.

However, since the word 'desirous' is seldom used by real people, I must admit, I have my doubt about the accuracy of your claims.

So, in a show of good will, please forward me $300, either by check or in cash (I’m flexible that way). Once I have received the amount, I will know you are who you claim you are and I will, of course, return the money plus the $300 you require from me.

In order to correctly transfer the money to you though, please inform me your banking details.

I look forward to hearing from you as I am most exited by the prospect of collaborating with Shoot Rajasthan Film Production (my heroes).

Yours sincerely
Phil Clarke Jr.

Mr. Ehren Kruger

Am forwarding this mail which was sent to me by Mr. Michael Bay of Shootshite Film Production's request to begin negotiation with you on how to buy your script TRANSFORMERS III for Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks.

My name is Mr Bogeyed Halfwit, an independent script agent and as you can see from the forwarded mail my client Mr Bay needs the script by next week wednesday.

To this end,I will be sending to you MOU documents via secured and registered courrier which you are expected to read and consent to.I will also need your banking details so as to advice payment as soon as i receive the signed documents, and other required informations which are attached to the documents that i will be sending to you.

Fees for the courrier services will be borne by you.As a result of this, you are to forward the courrier service fee of $50 and my agent sourcing fee of $250,all together $300 on or before  Friday this week. Please for safe and secure payment, use Moneygram or Western union money transfer.

In addition,I would also like to know how much you are willing to part with the script. Mr Bay has already hinted that he would be willing to pay more for your script than he has ever invested in a screenplay so if I was you I would not set your sights too low. You might expect to recieve something in the region of US$600 for your masterpiece.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear Mister Sanders,

What kind of deal do you think you can get for my script, Glade Matches Commercial?  I have received other offers for my script and want to be sure that I am properly compensated for my work.

What kind of budget will Shoot Rajasthan Film be working with on this?  I would rather my script not be produced than have it produced poorly, on a low budget.

    Please advise.

That is part of the information embedded in the MOU documents which you are expected to provide more information to me.Shoot Rajasthan is one India's big film production companies and they have done million dollar film projects. And they have other scripts before them for approval.

I suggest that you get the MOU first and see the deal that they are offering and see if its worth it.I can also broker a better deal so that you you will have ancilliary rights on all copies of the DVD sold. That means you have to pay me an up front brokering fee of $1500.

In any case,I strongly sugest you go through the MOU then,I will work it out with Shoot Rajasthan to pay you some percentage together with the right to the ANCILLIARY.tHAT WILL BE A BETTER DEAL.

Its up to you to get it sealed as soon as posible before nextweek wednesday.
Please I will be out of the country by tommorow,so if you are send the payment of the MOU and my sourcing fees, plus the brokering fee,let me know so that I can forward you with details of where I will be traveling to.

Dude, a brokering fee of $1500? Hey Phil, for $1500, I could do an even better job at your short. I mean, if you're just throwing the money away...

Of course, a valid question would be why he is requesting this money up front instead of the standard practice of taking the fees out of the payment you receive from the production company through his services. I mean, that's what everyone else does. If the company is hot to buy the script, it would stand to reason that it's just a straight across the table exchange, and he takes his cut as it passes back to you.

I know it's a scam, but if you play with him long enough, it might be worth tossing that out to see what kind of response you get. I would be amused.

One time my buddy got caught up in a check cashing scam like this, but he ended up turning the tables on them by setting up a "deal" where he would do credit cards for them too. So he managed to get them to send him about 2 grand USD in order to buy the credit card terminals. He never did buy the terminals and pocketed the cash. They kept sending him threatening letters. It was great.

Mister Sanders,

'Glade' has received a great deal of recognition from various screenplay competitions resulting in inquiry letters from various production companies, including Boose Films, LLC.  Unless you can assure me a good and professional deal for my work, I will be left with doubt and concern regarding any possible business dealing with you.

I can only assume that you have read my script. For this reason, I ask you what  sort of deal you can arrange.  Boose Films LC has suggested a production budget of 16 million US dollars.  As per the guidelines set by the Writer Guild of America, I would be compensated 3% of this, or 48,000 US dollars.  Do you think that you can negotiate an equal or better deal?  Please be specific.

I want to point out to everyone that Mister Sanders obviously got my contact information from SS; this is the only site where I've posted it.

And George?  For $1500, I can buy a new camera and shoot this myself. THanks anyway.

me too... whoops.

What I mean to say is that I can't imagine an Indian production company hiring an attorney from Luxemburg to secure a 1.5 page script.  Production cost for 'Glade' is probably less than the fees I would've had to pay to get the paperwork.

Wow. It’s amazing how blatant this guy is with his scam. Not only does he basically just come right out and tell you he’s going to rip you off but then he responds with this:

So now he’s basically just telling you outright that he’s going to disappear with your money as soon as he gets it. Incredible.

$60,000 for a two-pager...my my. This guy is amazing! Can he guarentee a worldwide release and the casting of Morgan Freeman as 'Narrator', too?

Honestly. If the guy's trying to rip you off to the tune of almost 2 grand he might make the effort to actually OPEN the script he's basing his scam on...

Weak, Mr. Sanders. Weak.

Yes, you'd think that he'd at least have the sense to pick on a feature script rather than a short, wouldn't you.

But I wonder how many naive newbies he has taken in? This may seem like a joke to us, because we can see straight through this sort of nonsense, but I bet there are a few wide eyed would be writers who have parted with money and then been broken hearted to find out it was all a scam and their dreams have been shattered.

By the way, I wonder what the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg would think of this use of their Embassy address?

I don't know about any of you, but I'm beginning to like this Sanders guy. He's got moxie.

It's just a shame he only exists in the warped mind of some Nigerian scam artist.

Speaking of Nigeria, can you believe i have a long lost Nigerian relative, Dr Peter Igho? Apparently he died recently in a tragic plane crash (along with every other member of his family), and I'm the only heir to his $15m fortune! All I have to do is give my bank details to ECO International Bank and they'll transfer the money over.

Looks like I'm gonna be rich!

No way! Man, that guy is a relative of mine, too! Are we related, now?

I beat you both to it. He died last year, and my fortune is just waiting to be released pending litigation on the estate and international transfer taxes and such. They've already taken out the taxes for the inheritance. It emptied my account. Can you believe it? But it'll be worth it when my ship comes in. I've been assured that I'll have extra money for Christmas. Thanks Uncle Pete.

My response to Sander's latest e-mail:

Quoted Text
Dear Mister Sanders,

While I am very impressed with your negotiating skills, I am still not completely satisfied with these arrangements.  True, you have managed a better deal with Shoot Rajasthan, it does not take into account the numerous deductions.  Between courier fees, your securation fee as well as the brokering, I feel that both offers are very similar in the end.

Boose Films has advised me that director Dwight Schrute has shown interest in 'Glade.'  You may recall him as the director who won all those awards three years ago for the movie 'Banana Chan.'  I am a big fan of Schrute's work and am very confident that he can bring my message across in my work.  To bring out the vision of my work.

Who does Shoot Rajaskan have in line to direct 'Glade?'  I am very familiar with Bollywood films and do not want some novice director destroying my image because he cannot film in such a large scale.  A good director will certainly help in working with Shoot Rajaskan.

Should I agree to sign with you, Is there some other way to send the needed money to you.  Due to past legal problems and conditions of my parole, I am unable to conduct any business with Western Union.

Respectfully yours,

See? Scammers should know better than to screw around with writers... Just like you should never mess around with a hacker's computer. Neither of these activities are very intelligent.

This guy isn't a hacker.  He's a con man who sends out 10,000 emails a day, hoping to get one of two bites.

If everyone were to spend some time in dealing with these, they'd have to find another way to make money.

Oh, I know he's not a hacker. I was just saying that trying to scam a writer is like trying to mess with a hacker's computer. I wasn't saying this guy was a hacker. He's not even a very good scammer. He included names and addresses of real people to try this whole thing. You were able to debunk by simply contacting the person he has in his email.

I'm sure not everyone goes to that much trouble, and some might be taken in, but trying to bandy words with someone who plays with words semi-professionally just doesn't sound too bright.

This stuff is hilarious!  So funny, Phil...BUT...1 little problem with your response back to him, which will be even funnier if you choose to jump on it...

You told him Boose Films was going with a $16 Million budget, and you'd be receiving 3% of that...you missed the correct $ amount by quite a bit!  Instead of $48,000, you would actually be receiving $480,000!  Just a small mistake of 90%.

Send him another message and correct yourself.  How funny will that be?

Great job with this!

PS  I forgot to tell you guys that Fade to White is going into Production with a $25 Million budget with Shoot Rajaskan and I'm waiting on a check for $750,000!  All I had to do was send them $8,000!  I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!

You should reply, Re.  If one percent of those people who receive these scamming e-mails with nonsense, the scammer won't have time to go through all of them.

And Bert, I saw your comment on moviepoet:  "And the script isn't even very good haha"  Words hurt, you know.  And is this script is so bad, why would Boose Films offer 46K for it?

Think about it, ya dingus!

Oh, Phil....I read that script.  Even defended it to some extent, as you might recall.  And you know I respect your craft.

And if you really, really feel that "Glade Matches Commercial" is amongst your best scripts, I will issue a formal retraction.

But you have to say that -- "Glade Matches Commercial is one of my best scripts!" -- with the exclamation point.

Or maybe you are just yanking my chain.  Hard to tell sometimes.

In my mailbox, today:

Quoted Text
Mr Phil,
I only hope that you still want to part with the script because I wouldn't want a situation where Shoot Rajasthan will loose interest as a result of some reasons which they may not see as tangible enough to delay the buying of the script.I must commend you for your desire to see your work perfectly delivered and I assure you that with Shoot Rajasthan, your aspirations are as good as being achieved. However, time is ticking as they would not accept any flimsy reason if they are not convinced that you have signed or about to sign it before Wednesday. In as much as they hold your script in high esteem,it also does not stop them from looking else where should you continue to delay the deal.

As am writing this this mail,I have just recieved an information that Shoot Rajasthan has secured the services of Mr Rajaat Kapoor to direct the movie.I hope you know him,he is the 2008/2009 Bollywood best movie director and was nominated for Oscar Award. In addition,Shoot Rajasthan has financial ties with AIG,ABN AMRO,Americanexpress Banks LTD,CITI Bank.To produce a movie script of yours will not be anything different.

As for sending the needed money. There's no way I would ask you to send the money to my account hence am not in Luxembourg right now.Besides,I will need it immediately to begin the process as soon as posible and I had expected you to have done that before now.Furthermore,as a result of our Embassy(The Consular office) policy on receiving funds from anywhere, funds can only be sent and received on behalf of any Luxembourg Staff through Mr.Charles Ekwonye, the Consular Legal Officer.
I strongly suggest that you send the money through MONEGRAM for quick and easy transfer so that I can receive it immediately and forward the contract documents to you.Shoot Rajasthan will be happy to hear that you are with the documents even before now.I have done the best I can and I appreciate your recommendation on that.

So if you are having problem with Western Union, use MONEGRAM.Its easier and faster. Please ensure that you forward all the payment details to me via email so that Iwill track its receipt.
The ball is now in your court and I want to inform Shoot Rajasthan now that the deal is on the way.

Best regards.
Martin

Phil, do what I originally suggested!  Tell him you made a big mistake with your math, and that 3% of the $16 Million budget is actually $480,000.  Play along and say, how could I be so stupid...blah, blah, blah.  See if he ups his offer.

It would be quite funny, IMO.

I think it might be time to drop the bomb that - as part of standard background credential checks - you contacted the studio direct and that they've never heard of Mr. Sanders and have never employed his services. And, you've contacted the Luxembourg embassy and not only have they never heard of a Mr. Sanders, but they take this kind of fraud very seriously and have passed the matter on to Interpol. Make him squirm and run.

OR...tell him that Boose Films might be interested in co-financing the project (perhaps they see it as a possible franchise, complete with merchandise and fast-food tie-ins?), and could he provide contact details for Shoot Rajasthan in order to float this idea to them?

I don't know. But this is all fun to watch!

Ask him if he'll accept less money.

Tell him you have a friend who is in the area and would like to personally drop off the money with him.

Ask him to fax you any documents for you to sign.  So you can read the fine details.

Use Pia's idea and ask him if he'll except you're wife's wedding ring?

Tell him you can indeed send money to Luxembourg as you can send money via SWIFT.  And that there is nothing stopping him from asking his bank manager to send the funds onto his third party named Mr.Charles Ekwonye, the Consular Legal Officer.

And advise him that his bank manager might have problems sending money to a third party.

Just ask him for his bank details, and style it like a Nigerian scam:

IBAN No.................
SWIFT code:...........
Bank Name.............
Beneficiary Name..........
Bank Address..............
Currency.................

***

Just found a scam email in my inbox:

This is information the Bank Manager need from you.

YOUR COUNTRY............
YOUR FULL NAME........
ACCOUNT NUMBER............
ROUTING NUMBER........
SWIFT CODE IF POSSIBLE.....
NAME OF YOUR BANK................
OCCUPATION...........
HOME ADDRESS.....
MOBIL PHONE NUMBER.....
OFFICE NUMBER.........
HOME NUMBER............
AGE....
SEX.

Well, you gotta admire his persistence. He probably thinks he has you hooked. Or on the flip side, he knows you're jacking with him, and he's jacking right back to see how far you'll go. Regardless, don't end it now. I's far too good.

Jack, play with guy for a bit.  He's obviously pulling names from SS.  Everyone who receives an e-mail should see how long they can screw with him.

George, as soon as he realizes I'm screwing with him, he'll drop me.  He doesn't want my attention; he wants my money.

I used to bait guys like this (love scams, charity scams, you name it) and it was great fun.

What some people like to do is get THEM to fill in forms, or take photo's of themselves holding weird signs (as proof that they exist).

It's a long process, but it's worth it in the end.

Phil, another thing you could do which would piss the guy off is tell him you sent him the money... directly to the company. Then mention the company and website which he said he was from. He will obviously hate this, BUT will do a lot more for you because he believes you are invested.

Ah, I could talk about this all day!

My suggestion is to tell him that due to tax issues with your ex wife the IRS froze your joint accounts. Tell him there are $500 in fees to unfreeze the accounts and you don’t have the money. Your ex wife has the money but deliberately refuses to pay the fees because she doesn’t want you to have access to your joint accounts -- which is a shame because the accounts have a grand total of $3 million in them!! If he can send you $500 in the form of a cashier’s check, you can cash it, unfreeze your joint accounts, and transfer the funds to your own private accounts. Then maybe you can even invest in the film!!

If only you had that $500.

Whatever you do, if you still feel like playing, I think you should give him the impression you’ve got more money than sense.

My latest reply:

Quoted Text
Martin,

I am a little familiar with Rajaat Kapoor's work; he's more of an actor than a director, despite any award he's won.  Also, from what I hear, he likes to change the script to meet his vision; I do not feel comfortable with this.  I spent nearly three years on this script.  I do not like the idea of someone jumping on board and changing things up.  I can't imagine what he would do to the bathroom scene at the end of the script.  And, to be honest, 'Glade' is very different from his other work.

I advised Boose Films LLC of our correspondences, including your offer.  They have countered it with an offer of $62,500 US dollars, as well as 1.5% of the net.

Please don't think that I have lost interest in your offer.  I am very interested in expanding my writing to include foreign cinema. Until recently, I had a deal with Afghani Production, LLC, for my romance comedy, 'Dirty Sanchez.'  The deal fell through when the producer lost his life in a coffee shop bombing.  However, Boose Films has offered me, in my opinion, a better deal.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, I am legally unable to use any of Western Union's services.  This includes Moneygrams.  Is there any other way that I can send you the money, should I go with you and Shoot Rajasthan.

I understand that Shoot Rajasthan wants to seal up this deal in a few days, but I do have to consider all options.  And my legal problems with Western Union only complicates things.

I look forward to hearing from you and your advice.

I usually don't give a sh*** about scams. Not personally. For the gullible, yes I do.

Personally, all I care about is my craft. If I ever get there, I'll have people seeking me out and my life won't change much except that I'll be able to hire people in many venues to make the world a better place.

My desire carries me and it will most certainly carry others: and if it does, then devil DON'T be damned, you've served well and we'll rise because of it. Well....

Some of us it will take us awhile, but it will happen.

Thanks Phil,

Sandra

Ah Miss Elstree Studios,

Indeed. A lot of us feel that way. "but it will happen" is exactly the attitude that will get there.

When I first got one of these emails from that skanky git I thought it was fishy but, not having many previous offers I was kinda really pleased too.

Then I read it properly then I came on here.

One day I'll be bored with offers. That'll be a good day.

From Martin Sanders:

Mr Phil,

I have talked with Shoot Rajasthan and they are almost loosing interest.I have further pushed them to agreeing to pay $68,000 and 1.5% net.But with the condition that the documents be signed or is with you by tommorow.I have contacted DHL Express to work it out.I also promised them that every thing will be done before Friday, though they feel not sure about it.
I have recommeded Danny Boyle, you know him the director of Slum Dog Millionaire and he will now be directing the movie. As for changing a part of your script, you have my wod for that that none of that will happen.

Am afraid this probably will be the last you will hear from me should there be any other excuse because I want to mentain my intergrity with Shoot Rajasthan.
I understand that you may be on parole with Western union but you can ask a collegue or your spouse to do that on your behalf.
Shoot Rajasthan has instructed me to make sure all is begun today before ever they will contract Danny Boyle andthat they cannot go beyond the $68,000 and 1.5% net, you can see that you are holding the progress of this deal.

If you are unable to forward the fees today,I will consider the deal terminated.

Martin.

OR...something about the lengths you're going to to get the money? You have an appointment booked tomorrow to have a kidney removed (with an eager buyer in the wings), you're planning to rob a bank tonight, you've kidnapped someone and you're waiting for the ransom demand...

I don't know. But I like what you've done so far!

Guess who's back? Back again?

THis guy certainly has all the contacts and easy access to get them on board. Wow, Danny Boyle is now ready to film your classic 5 minute script.  You just have to love this guy.

I agree with Johnny...tell him you are robbing a bank this afternoon and will let him know if you get away with it.

This is great!

My reply:

Quoted Text
Martin,

I am very surprised that Danny Boyle is available for work, so soon after the accident he suffered in his home only three weeks ago.  Still, if he is healthy enough for work, then I am happy.  I guess you don't need thumbs to direct a movie.  If you were able to guarantee  Boyle for 'Glade,' then I want to sign up with you and Shoot Rathasthan.

This still does not resolve my problem with the payment.  My condition for parole restricts me from conducting any money transfers with Western Union, both directly and indirectly.  Having my wife, or a friend send the money in my behalf is still a violation of my parole and I cannot risk going back to prison, even for this script.  The Federal Bureau of Investigation is closely monitoring all money transfers leaving the United States because of all the scam artists overseas, scamming all the gullible Americans out of their money.  It is too risky for me.

Is there some other way that I can get you the money?  I could wire the money to you from my bank, if that is possible.  Or, to avoid the courier fee, you could e-mail or fax the paperwork to me. Or I could send the money to you through Pay-Pal.  Is it even possible that you or Shoot Rajasthan could simply deduct the money from my salary as writer?  I think this would be the best solution and would eliminate the chance of su,m bag con artists getting involved.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Phil,

You could alternatively turn the tables and either A: Keep on emailing him for updates, adding more delays, say the money is on its way, possibly send the money to the wrong person.

B: Get an automatic email software and bombard him with a thousand requests or offers for other scripts.

C: Say you'll agree to it if you can get an autographed photo from Danny Boyle and a face-to-face meeting.

What I sent him:

Dear Mr Sanders

I am pleased to read that Shoot Rajasthan Film are interested in my script.  It's always good news to hear, but before we talk numbers, I am interested in the connection between Shoot Rajasthan Film and Samsa Films?

I can see that both CEO's names can be found within the email signature that you have received which sounds very impressive.

What is the document located below the email you received?  Is that the document you will be sending me to signed by the CEO's?

I also note that you are an Independent agent.

My agent has already garnered some interest in my script and believes he can obtain a budget in the region of $10million, which he believes will realize my scripts full potential, and I'll be compensated 3% through the sale of the script.

Could you better my agents potential deal or possibly obtain any extras that my agent couldn't obtain?

Regards,

Javier

Javier, make sure you do your math correctly, as Phil didn't.  3% of $10,000,000 is $300,000.  Don't settle for a penney less!

Mr Sanders latest response:

Dear Torregrosa,

To answer your question first, the two companies which I source films scripts for are unfortunately if I may say,are very interested in your script. As am writing to you now, they at a keen competition to outwit each other in procuring the scripts.

e forwarded mail was indeed from Shoot Rajasthan authorizing me to buy/negotiate and advice payment on their behalf.Samsa also have given me the same authority.

I have been mandated to get the script sold to them on or before next week wednesday and depending on your swift response, you will be paid by tuesday by certified cheque.

I have brokered a deal of $68,000 and 1.5% net profit for you on the part of Shoot Rajasthan. Then $70,000 and 1% net on the side of Samsa.  And like I said earlier,my brokers fee is $2000,$1000 to be paid me up-front and $1000 balance to be paid after you recieved your full payment.

I shall forward the hardcopy contract documents to you today as soon as I confirm the payment of my $1000 up-front fee.   For fast and secured payment, make payments through western union money transfer to my Secretary:

Mr.Charles Ekwonye
#46 Jillote Ratder Avenue
NE 79764
LX,Luxembourg.

Please send payment details and your full postal address to this email.

Regards,
Martin Sanders.

Here's my response:

Dear Mr Sanders,

I'm please to hear not one but two film companies are interested in my script.  I've also had to inform my co-writer Mr Newcomer as he created many significant plot twists and his copyrighted character also appears, namely Tanis.  He too is also intrigued to hear interest snowballing to far off corners of the globe.

But, back to the numbers, I do believe sums may not be your strong point, would you not agree?

Even though I can see Shoot Rajasthan have the better offer, I can see that they might not be fully behind my script in comparison to my agents offer from the utmost reputable company The Don Entertainment whose offer of 3% on $10million for a shooting budget will bring my script to the big screen.

My agent has even kindly offered to take the stress of negotiations by offering to take my pay cheque and take his cut, hence I save time not having to speak to the bank manager.

What is a Western Union?  Is that a bank?

The Don Entertainment has asked me to give the character Tanis a larger role, meaning Mr Newcomers will have to take a larger slice of the pie.  Do you agree with this move?

I'm happy but not my agent.  I don't mind as long as it works and I get paid, but of course in doing so, his agent will have to get a larger slice of the pie.  Are you willing to split your broker fee with my co-writer's agent?

What are your thoughts on my script?  Are there any weak areas that you feel I can improve?  Does Shoot Rajasthan require any additional rewrites?

Regards,
Javier

Javier,

You may want to shoot off an e-mail to Shoot Rajasthan and advise them of the situation.  The scammer has probably contacted hundreds of people using SR in it's ploy.

If Sanders says that he secured Danny Boyle, you may to mention that he's committed to the Glade Matches Commercial.

Hey, he wrote back!

Mr Phil,

It hurts so much when after much difficulty one brokers a great deal on someone's behalf, placing his intergrity, trust and name on line to make the deal set only to be told flimsy excuses that discourages.

Shoot Rajasthan is almost disappointed and I am finding it difficult to convince them. They have committed a whole lot in organizing auditions and contacting world class production crew just to make you happy selling the script to them
I am afraid I won't talk more on this deal except I see a committment on your part then,I can put my neck on it.I have my intergrity and trust to mentain with Shoot Rajasthan and they may likely change their mind by next Monday.

The only thing that can make the difference as it stands now is for you to have in your custody the hardcopy contract documments which you are not serious to get.

The $1800 must be paid through western union or moneygram so that I can access it almost immediately.Furthermore I cannot go against the consular rules so I suggest that you make the payment now, through western union or moneygram and,in the name of the person I sent to you.If you make the payment now,I assure you that tuesday morning, you will have the documments on your door post.I can't imagine a situation where one is barred from sending money through western union or moneygram. If you can wire payment from your bank or from Paypal, then I see no reason why you should be coming up with these kind of flimsy excuses, even when you know that we have been into this for years.

If you are finding it difficult to pay this, how am I sure that you will pay me the balance of my brokers fee when you are paid?

I will tell Shoot Rajasthan that you will respond fully before Monday after now, so lets hope you make the payment now. That's the only thing that can convince me that you are indeed committed to this deal.

Please don't forget to email me the payment details and your full postal address.

Martin.

I decided to contact the FBI on this matter.

Mr Sanders wrote back:

Mr Torregrosa,

My consent to split the broker fee is to me a non issue. It can only be worked out between you and your co-writer.Like I said,my up-front payment is $1000 so its up you and your co-writer to know who pays the upper and who gets the bigger pay atlast.

I want to remind you that Shoot Rajasthan has worked out their schedule and thats include getting the scripts by now.I strongly suggest that you and your co-writer pay my upfront fee today so that I can forward the hardcopy contract documments to you.

As for being behind you,I think the greatest thing that could happen to you is to have Shoot Rajasthan produce your script. There are areas that we will have to work on but thats when we have entered a deal and your script will be superb!I don't think your agent is capable of brokering a better deal than I do.Script writers now turn to Bollywood because that's where the money is and that's where you get opportunities to explore your talents.

The ball is in your court.

And my response:

Dear Colonel Sanders,

I am wondering why Shoot Rajasthan would give up time and money to work out a schedule regarding my script when no contract deals have been thrashed out?

Is that why Bollywood is so ahead of the world in film?  Because by the time the documents have been signed, the film has already been made?  That does sound like cutting edge entertainment.

I think I'll have to side with my agent on this one.  He's just got a major deal to distribute my film, which alas is the end of your story.

                                                            Fade Out.

What's especially amusing about the two that we've been made aware of after Phil played with the guy is that he's used that conversation in the subsequent emails. Even offered $48K right up front to Jammin.

That could make things interesting if you make one.

If you make a fake receipt and he claims he never got the money, send the receipt. Then, say that if he doesn't send your money within 24 hours, you'll seek legal counsel. Lol.

Dear Mister Sanders,

Yesterday, my husband Phil was arrested by FBI agents for trying to send you a Western Union Moneygram.  Conducting any business with Western Union is a violation of his parole; he was convicted in 2004 of armed robbery at a Western Union branch.

As he was wiring $1800 to you, I turn to you for advice.  I don't want to lose my husband; he's facing nine years in jail for simply trying to sell his script.

Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully yours,

Bernadette Clarke

Quoted from dogglebe
Dear Mister Sanders,

Yesterday, my husband Phil was arrested by FBI agents for trying to send you a Western Union Moneygram.  Conducting any business with Western Union is a violation of his parole; he was convicted in 2004 of armed robbery at a Western Union branch.

As he was wiring $1800 to you, I turn to you for advice.  I don't want to lose my husband; he's facing nine years in jail for simply trying to sell his script.

Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully yours,

Bernadette Clarke

Phil, maybe you could work in - in your next mail to Sanders - that since you (Phil) has breached the Homeland Security Act, articles 7 & 9, subparagraphs E through K, the FBI are very interested in bringing Mr. Sanders in for questioning - and then watch Mr. Sanders go "I'm Jack's cold sweat".

But the real question Mr. Sanders will be interested in knowing the answer to is whether Phil was arrested before or after he sent the money. I think it would be far more amusing if the money went off and he was arrested after they realized it was him. Therefore, the wife wants help, but Sanders still gets the money (or so he thinks).

BTW, this has got to rank as one of the best threads ever on the boards.

Apparently, the jig is up.

Between 7:50am and 8:00, Dom received three (count 'em three) e-mail regarding this thread.  The first was from Martin Sanders.  The other two were from writer whom he supposedly represented.  They insist it's all real and that I'm facing a lawsuit from Sanders.

The e-mail can be found here.

I look forward to the lawsuit.

{Don's edit: Actually, they were comments to the Martin Sander's Script Agent Scam posting.  If you scroll down you can see the three comments posted one after the other from the same ip address (in Germany).  If it was a true Cease and Desist, I'd have gotten an email and there would be actual contact information.}

I have just forwarded on my email from M Sanders to Samsa Films to get their confirmation that this is a scam.

I'll send it on to Phil or Don who can send it onto Martin Sanders if needed.

I already checked his 'email headers' and he definitely is not in the country he says he's in.

Also, if you check the Link in Phil's post above, I found a site where Martin Sanders is a known scammer along with a load of other names to look out for.

Well, at the very least, maybe he'll stop trolling this site looking for people to email.

I just checked the home page. Wow!  Amazing the effort some people will go through to scam some money out of people.

Just found a link to another forum where the elusive Martin Sanders was trying to sell a car for under $1,000.00 from July 2008.

This guy is trying to dupe everyone & anyone.

Also, if you check the Link in Phil's post above, I found a site where Martin Sanders is a known scammer along with a load of other names to look out for.

I couldn’t help but notice the following quote from “Glen B. Thomas,” a.k.a. “Martin Sanders,” on the front page:

Quoted from “Glen B. Thomas” on the front page of SS
Unless you (Phil Clarke, jr.) immediately cease and desist from communicating these defamatory and damaging comments regarding mr sanders I will file a law suit against you in the Superior Court for invasion of privacy and defamation and I will immediately seek a Preliminary Injunction enjoining and restraining you from making any further defamatory comments or communication regarding mr sanders. I will further seek to have you assessed for all court costs, including legal fees, related to this matter.

This is particularly interesting - and supremely ironic - given that Phil’s already received this response from the production company “Martin Sanders” claims to represent:

Quoted from Dilip Kungwani of Shoot Rajasthan Film Productions
dear phil

thanks for your mail..this man is totally fake , pl. ingore these kind of mail. pl.. donot reply and contact him. unless untill i directly contact to any body..

regards
dilip

I wonder if “Glen B. Thomas” is going to include Dilip Kungwani in his “Preliminary Injunction” against Phil.

How exactly did you invade Sanders' privacy, Phil? Are you holding back on us my good man?

I received another e-mail from the fraud:

Phil,

Unfortunately, one of your friends whom you have been chatting with and whom I have helped sold his script have been playing on you and getting to know that you are ungrateful.

I have been reading your chat with him on the http://www.simplyscripts.com .It very ungrateful of you but I just want to let you know that if you fail to remove what you wrote against me or retract your defamatory statement,I will sue you for defamation of characters and those whom you have been chatting with definetly testify against you.

As for the FBI stuff, you may be surprised to see the table turn against you.

Looking forward to the lawsuit.

In fact, you should double-dogglebe dare him!

There’s not a lot you can do to each other since you’re from different countries. The FBI only handles domestic crimes. About the only thing you can do is ask how you might go about contacting German authorities and give them “Martin Sanders” IP address. They probably won’t do much about it. The IP address probably belongs to an internet café.

The worst thing we can do to him is probably just expose him and his various aliases so as to cut down on the number of marks he can dupe.

I agree with Bert though that you should challenge the guy to turn you in to the FBI. If he’s stupid enough to contact them, then at least they’ll personally have his IP address for future reference.

Breanne

{EDIT: Apparently the FBI does occasionally work outside the U.S. The following is from the FBI website:

“Concerning arrests on foreign soil, FBI Special Agents generally do not have authority outside the United States except in certain cases where, with the consent of the host country, Congress has granted the FBI extraterritorial jurisdiction.”}

I've just reported this scam to:

http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/feedback.htm

I believe they will contact all the agencies around the world and I believe the FBI are the leading agency worldwide regarding scams on the internet.

It's better to forward the email as it should retain the 'headers' and make it easier to track and find this guy.

So Phil and Jammin and anyone should forward their emails to:

cfr2008a@consumerfraudreporting.org

If government agencies were able to stop these clowns, they would've done it by now.  The only thing that can be done is to educate people about the scammers and waste their time.  Try to imagine how much of Sanders' time would've been wasted if fifty people screwed with him like I did.

If everyone who received 419 scam e-mails were to reply back with phony information, these guys would have to find a new way to earn their money. Spread the word!

I don't get what you guys are all upset about.  Mr. Sanders just made an offer to represent 'Living the Dream'  for the all new low price of 1,000 dollars up front.  (He prefers Western Union or Moneygram.)  I just have to adjust the script to fit into the Indian Porn Industry (IPI for short) and it'll be golden!  I'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
If you all are real nice and apologize to the generous Mr. Sanders I'll think about using the millions I make off my 6 page short to produce one of yours.  No promises though.
                                            Ophelia

PS  He told me my script was really his favorite out of all the ones the site!

Congrats Ophelia!  That's great news.  For only $1,000, I'd jump all over it!  Can you work out the contract so that you'll be onset during the porn shoot?  Gota love the IPI!!!!  Easily a favorite of mine!

Martin Sanders (or perhaps his real name is Mr.Charles .Ekwonye) is a pathetic cowardly fuck.

This morning he tried to register to the boards as Shootrajasthan from the exact same ip address as his 'lawyer' and other 'screenwriters' who have benefited from his representation. He didn't stop to actually read the registration instructions and used a fake email address so he couldn't validate his account.

It has been over 24 hours and I haven't heard from the his lawyers.  I am disappointed as I would have liked to have had more simpering bullshit from this little worm.    I have, however, reported his actions to Deutsche Telekom AG which is the owner of the IP address he has been using.

If you have received an email from Martin "Charles .Ekwonye" Sanders, you might just want to forward it to the email providers abuse address, usually abuse@hotmail.com or abuse@yahoo.com.  They usually nuke them pretty quickly and it is fun to watch the email addresses change.

Perhaps it would be fair to point out to "Mr. Sanders" with all his commentary over dragging names through the mud and such, what do you suppose the popular opinion of Shoot Rajasthan among duped, or even unduped, screenwriters is after his antics? I mean, we know they're out of the loop because Phil actually emailed the company, but this guy is actually serving to dirty their name through his scam. I'll bet they could serve him up with some REAL papers, if international law allowed for it (and they felt like it was worth their time).

Oh yeah, this is still one of the best threads ever.

I don't think that Martin Sander, or Charlie Ekwonye, or D-bag, will be back.  He knows he lost and won't be making any money from SS'ers.  I think that everyone should send the word about this nonsense to any other writing circles that they belong to.
