Just looking at their FilmFreeway page, glad to see they are after Animal Led Narrative TV pilots, that's a vastly underrated genre in my opinion.

It's a bit unclear what exactly they are after or the fine detail. TV Pilots for sure, but is there a time limit on the length of the pilot for example? The post above states this is their first short film competition but the Filmfreeway page is for TV pilots. TV pilots can be 30 minutes to an hour.

Who are these cinema partners that the movies will be streamed to?

Then theres this:

5. Submission Fee
All FilmFreeway submissions for Raindance Film Festival are to be paid by credit card. The submission fee is non-refundable.

Is Cine.Love part of Raindance or did you copy & paste the T&C's from another FilmFreeway page?

At the moment the whole thing has a bit of an amateur vibe to it, which I'm sure is them just setting things up but it doesn't really encourage me to want to sign up.

Yes I went in to look and not really encouraged to submit to this.

There is some legal-iffy wording I ran across and on one page, it looks like there is no category for short films once you click thru.

Is this part of Raindance?  Not interested if so.

Hey Mark,

Thanks for your post!

We have amended the T&Cs accordingly so they should read correctly now as CineLove TV Pilot Festival, thank you for making me aware!

I'm glad you like our inclusion of the Animal led Narrative category, we like to offer a broad spectrum for film makers.

All the shorts should be a runtime of 60 mins max - FilmFreeWay now states this info.

We appreciate your feedback and hope you will give us a second chance and submit to the festival!

Shorts? With a runtime of 60 minutes? Are you sure we are talking about short films here?

Confusing.

Hey Pale Yellow,

We're a totally independent new festival with a mission to get filmmakers work viewed by an audience and elevate independent filmmakers within the industry.

We wanted to focus on TV pilots for this contest however we'll be accepting short films across many more festivals which we're working on releasing in summer 2018 so please watch this space for further info on those!

Daisy,

I was just wondering on behalf of the SimplyScripts users, if there is or will be a promotional code or a discount given to us to enter the CineLove Festival Competitions?

All the best,
Marty

It will be interesting to see how many Simply Scripts peeps have managed to fund and produce their own TV pilot!

How much of an incentive is £250? Maybe they missed a zero off the end?

They do claim to give promotion to the pilots. I imagine this will be down to them showing it to people - if anyone is actually watching. They're new so basically have eff all to offer aside from renting out a cinema screen and getting us all to pay for it.

The umbrella over all of this is Withoutabox and FilmFreeway. The two major festival portals. Neither which of yet have demonstrated any real success for the participants.

I mean the notion is interesting - a modernization of the film festival process to reflect the digital age, open it up to the masses, allow for multiple submital at the click of a button, etc. A break through to the industry? - not likely.  It is really like of someone put together a portal that allowed you to submit to 10 screenwriting contests simultaneously with one submittal.

So, now there is apparently a new festival - Cinelove.  Kind of like - oh, here is a new screenwriting contest. The proof will not be in the technology or the fee - it will be in whether they are ever any legitimate success stories from winning.  i.e, if you win an award at Tribeca, Sundance, Cannes, Austin, etc. - then you pretty much no that is going to mean something. Cinelove on the other hand may have no more importance in the industry then the "eldave film festival" (c) -  and as such, as Dustin said, I struggle to see the difference between this and Youtube or Vimeo. But - I will reserve final judgement when I see the successes start rolling in.
