I agree that the film was good, but I'm still wondering why it was such an abortion by the studios. They must not have screen tested the film at all, because its gotten generally good responses from the crowds. I'm pretty sure it has like a 7.0 imdb.com rating which is pretty good. I guess its just destined to be a cult sci-fi film, but its sad that it didn't get a larger release. I hope Wimmer can follow this one up, but by the sounds of his next film... it sounds like another abortion/just plain old bad film is on the way.

I gotta say Equilibrium is one of my favourite movies of all time. I'm not exactly sure why but I'll take a guess: it must be the atmosphere. In the film, emotions are banished... so when there is something emotional, you feel it a lot more than in normal films. When Preston sees a painting, touches a rail, looks at a woman... it's as if for the first time and it gives it a lot of impact. And plus, you know, the fighting technique... using guns to subsequent martial art movements is brilliant, and it is logical. Christian Bale was a great choice for the lead, no wonder he's the new Batman!
