WHOA! Okay, I have been excited for this movie for quite awhile, being a huge Rachel McAdams fan! All I've heard is good reviews from this movie! So I was so excited today I saw it and from the first minute to the last I was hooked! Wes Craven is Back! This movie had me on the edge of my seat for the whole movie the movies filled with jumps, twists and majour suspense. I would suggest this to anyone who liked phone booth or any hostage situation movie. This is the first movie I've seen in theaters where people are actually cheering for people! It was like being at a hockey game people were yelling, clapping! No one walked out disappointed everyone came out talking and smiling! I recomend this to anyone! The two (Rachel McAdams and Cilian Murphy) are genius together they have great chemistry! Best movie of the Summer of 05 you wont be disappointed walking out of this! Get off your computer and run to the theaters!
The name is the ONLY thing they have in common. Red Eye is the name of a plane or a flight or something I think. It has nothing to with actual eyes like The Eye does lol.
"Are you saying I'm crazy!?" "Oh no, but I'm certainly thinking it loudly"
You know how you develop blood shot eyes when you stay up way too long at night? Basically its from lack of sleep. RED-EYE is a term used to explain how passengers develop red-eyes when the flight is an all-nighter.
Pretty good. Nothing ground-breaking, but it works. It's slick, entertaining, and suspenseful. Clocking in at 84 minutes does seem short, but there isn't much to the film, which I think is a greater strength for a film like this.
Wes Craven, after the disapointment "Cursed", is back with stylish direction and he creates high tension between two people who are seated next to each other for half the film. Some may get a little bored in the first 20 minutes, but if you can survive that, you'll be very entertained by the last half.
The leads, Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy, are very good. Lisa(McAdams) is very believable as the victim and Jackson(Murphy) is superb as the villian. Brian Cox, who I didn't recongnize due to his dyed hair, facial hair, and weight-loss, is decent in a role that isn't demanding. Jayma Mays as Cynthia was a great comic relief. Beautiful girl, hope we see her in more films.
The plot is simple. A hotel manager, Lisa, of Lux Atlantic in Maimi is pulled into a scheme to "help" assassinate Keefe, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, who happens to be staying at her hotel. All she has to do is make a call to her assistant, Cynthia, and have her change Keefe's room(makes it easier for the "terrorists" plot). If "everything" fails then Lisa's father will die. Told you it was simple.
When the plane arrives in Maimi is when the action begins. It starts with an entertaining chase through the airport and continues to her father's home. There we go into Craven territory with suspense and chases. Watching the victim vs. the villian in Lisa's home seemed very "Scream", none the less it was extremely entertaining to watch.
What I personally like about this film is the character of Lisa Riesert. She's abused, both mentally and physically so badly in this film and watching her get her little revenge(hint: pen scene) was fantastically called for.
"Red-Eye" has definitely been one of the stronger and better films of this summer. See it, it's quite the rush.
I just saw this today. I thought it was pretty damn good up until the plane lands, than it's just mediocre (and it reminded me of Scream also when they're in the house) for the rest. The scenes on the plane were quite Hitchcockian at times and Cillian Murphy was great in the movie. He has such a sleezy look to him in the movie. He was great for the part. Rachael McAdams was quite good too (not to mention being absolutely stunning to look at ). It was worth the money.
Saw it today. I thought it was soild entertainment with two great performances from McAdams and Murphy.
Check out my Script:
Feature: "Candy: Inspired by the Houston Mass Murders" Horror, Drama - 15 year old drunkard Wayne Henley gets caught up in procuring his teenage friends for a serial killing psychopath. 117 pages
I can't say that I hated this film, Cillian Murphy is a very enjoyable actor but that's what he chose as a profession so we should expect it from him. No medals for this guy because he damned well better be solid or he'd be Ashton Kutcher.
I thought he played the perfect blend between nice guy and bad guy throughout the first and second acts of the film. Everything in the plane was great and as soon as they leave the film goes sour.
Everything in the third act is what Wes Craven has become, a cheap Hollywood director who has no good ideas left and has to cheese it up with lame fights that have a predictable outcome.
Hey, I don’t sugar coat my feelings even if it’s against popular demand.
Since I liked the first 2 acts which were basically all but the last 20 minutes I won’t judge it harshly based on the facts.
8 out of 10
The DVD however is pretty well put together and for once they didn’t have an unrated edition like most films (Even Cursed has one) so I’m glad they released 1 version of the film… for now anyway.
Good features and all so overall the package is worth a purchase if you like these types of films.
I watched the movie Redeye yesterday and I thought that it was a really good movie I usually do not like to watch movies like that but this one was espically good so if you have seen it write back soon later.
