No one’s been talking about this movie at all so I felt I had to go see it for myself. It is a summer disaster movie after all. Was it great? No. Was it bad? No.

It started out a little cheesy with some, IMO, pretty bad acting, but Richard Dreyfus and Kurt Russell made up for some of that. The disaster happened just a few minutes in so it was non-stop fight for survival from then on.

This movie reminded me of a lot of other movies (maybe it’s true that everything’s already been done) from Towering Inferno to Titanic, Die Hard, Backdraft and Speed.

If you are too young to go see R rated movies or you are a parent with kids who are too young to see R rated movies this might work for you. There are no objectionable situations or uncomfortable moments and the action is non-stop from beginning to end.

Oh yeah, Josh Lucas can rescue me anytime…….

I'm surprised no one has been talking about this movie. It actually has some decent actors in it, and has a great plot. I love a constant fight for your survial movie on occasion.

I'll be sure to see this one very soon.

Coming Soon:

I finally found the title for my short.

This movie has to be the most suspenseful movie I've ever seen. Some parts were predictable, but others were not. The wave scene was probably the most intense part there, but I do have to agree, the beginning did have a few downs, one of those was bad acting.

But overall I give it an 8/10. I heard it made only 9 million in the box office, though.

The original was better... Of course, they always are.

I wouldn't say they always are. I have always found the American version of The Ring superior to Ringu. It has a greater suspense factor and dispenses with that annoying "empty the well" scene in both the Japanese and Korean versions. It also ties the video into the plot more giving the images some sort of meaning, where in the other versions, the video meant little to nothing more than you die in 7 days.

But as a general rule, though, I've found this to be true. Of course, I think remaking The Poseidon Adventure is a shifty idea to begin with.

the original rocked!

although this one was pretty decent in my eyes.  it's been forever since I've seen Dreyfus in anything.

they've re-released the original in a new two disc DVD "collectors set"

....which basically means it's the same flick but you pay extra for stuff that you most likely won't watch anyway.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the god awful TV movie version that came out a few months back.  in that one terrorists blow a hole in the ship (yes you read that right) and that's what made it roll over.  I couldn't even watch it all the way through.

Everytime I see the original playing on TV Guide (Which is now my favorite channel [not really]), I always turn to that channel and it's always the last ten minutes of the movie. What's wrong with me?!
