I saw Gaspar Noe's Love on Thursday night and was wondering if anyone else has seen it yet?
This was a solid film and probably one of my favorite films of this year. It was a brave and unflinching look at a relationship and how they affect you both positively and negatively. This film had the best use of 3D Ive ever seen. It was not about creating depth to the film but felt like you are looking into the someones life. It makes you feel connected to the characters. Finally, a movie that uses 3D as a story telling technique instead of a gimmick to bring the audience in. Yes, the film is explicit but it was handled by a man who wants to show you sex not just to turn you on but to help you relate to the characters that are in love and showing it through their love making.

Noe knows how to shot club scenes like no other, creating a scene that is equally unsettling yet hypnotic. This film has the best soundtrack of the year. The music enhances everything you see and turns scenes into an experience.

Its nice to see Gaspar Noe mature with his work. Hes now telling stories that dont need excessive violence like in Irreversible and Enter The Void. While I dont mind violence when it fits the story I would rather not watch the fire extinguisher scene or the tunnel rape ever again.

I love how he always films in long takes with no shot/ reverse shot. He creates a realistic world and challenges his actors to stay in character.

There was a Q and A with Gaspar and the main actress after the movie and it was very informative and interesting. I was able to shake his hand which was a highlight!

While the film is a downer it left me with the feeling of wanting to start a relationship. Because even though theres the threat of loss and depression, it is outweighed by the excitement and euphoria you feel when you are connected with a person. The greatest thing is sex when your in love.

This is one of my favorite films of this year so far and I will probably see it again before it leaves the theatre.

Even if I don't love all of his work, a new release by Gaspar Noe is always something I eagerly anticipate. No one pushes the boundaries quite like him.

Super cool that you got to meet him afterwards, as well!
