This is the follow up feature to 2013's Blue Ruin with writer/director Jeremy Saulnier given a bigger budget and access to A list stars... and my what he does with them!

SPOILERS AHEAD!
Basic story line
A young punk rock band take a gig at a white supremacist club in the middle of nowhere, against their better judgement, but money is tight.

After their set they accidentally stumble over a dead body and the killer... a friend of the club and part of the 'in crowd'.

They are held against their will whilst the owner of the club is called to 'fix it', Patrick Stewart is that owner and in a role a million miles away from Professor X he steps in to make sure that his clubs (and the heroin lab in the basement) do not draw unwanted police attention.

The band take a hostage themselves and what ensues is a bloody and brutal game of cat and mouse that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout.

The cast also features Imogen Poots and Anton Yelchin, both playing against recent type to great effect.

What makes this film so effective, imho, is the claustrophobic setting of just a few rooms in the club and the realistic and brutal violence. I saw this film with 300 horror fans who were wincing and gasping at some of the sequences.

Top notch film on all counts.
