I had high hopes for this, based on trailers and critical praise, but I gotta say, I was not impressed in any way when I left the theater yesterday...other than...well...I was very impressed with Brie Larson's rack, but that's about it.

To me, it came off rather strangely, right from the get go (and I won't "spoil" that intro here.

Although there was some kind of attempt at characterization early on, I didn't have much interest in anyone, including Brie Larson, because she wasn't wearing that tight sleeveless shirt she sported in the 2nd half of the flick.  But I will say that I did  enjoy John C. Reilly's crazy character, although, again, this character seemed very out of place in a flick like this.

Kong was just too big, IMO.  As in, it just didn't make sense how huge he was.  Nor did it make sense how big the water buffalo thing was.  Or the bamboo spider thing.  Or why was a giant octopus in an inland river?

The skull crawlers were cool, but does it make any sense that there's a whole bunch of these things here on this small island?  What are they eating to survive?

FX wasn't great IMO.  Kong looked good at times, but like a dude in an ape suit at others.  The monster fights were OK, but for me,m went on a little long.

Bottom line is that I just wasn't feeling it and just couldn't buy into it.

I saw this opening weekend and liked it a bit more than you did. My biggest gripe was that I couldn't fathom as to why the chopper pilots kept flying at Kong's head only to be swatted like flies. Climb you idiots!

As to why Kong is so big? He's fighting Godzilla in 2020. Not a joke. Did you stay for the after credits scene?

This movie was just big dumb fun, plain and simple. For a movie about a giant ape fighting monsters, that's all you could reasonably ask for.

Yeah, I know they decided to increase Kong's size dramatically because of the upcoming Zilla vs Kong, but, still...just too mammoth to make sense for me.

I'm pissed, cuz I did not see that extra scene, which I read about when I got home.  I did stay for the majority of the credits, but it seemed like nothing was going to follow, and everyone else had cleared out, so I booked.

Maybe I'll see if I can see it on youtube or something, as I wish i had seen it!

SkillIsland was alright, seemed less dangerous than the Skull Island seen in Peter Jackson's 2005 film. As for Kong---some of that was clearly a response to a Godzilla criticism where Godzilla was barely seen. We get lots and lots and then ssome of Kong. But I agree withJeff.KongIS too big for Skull Island. In soe shotsit alost looks like the island is his footstool and then in others it looks like he shrinks tree level to fight the skull crawlers.

John C Reilly stood out among the humans- but that said, his character was the mostfleshed out.

This is Jurassic Kong Park World. Nothing more, nothing less.

Reilly's 'giant ant'line  made me hope that WB'msonster Universe might include an update on THEM but that might be a pipe dream...

I went into this movie wanting to like way more than I did.

It was okay, passable. Nothing great. They could have made it way more interesting. This was pretty much run of the mill stuff.
