I'm two episodes in and I'm not loving it so far. I realise it's a really big new world they built but the overly expositional dialogue is cringe worthy. The voice overs are also overly dramatic.
Acting is below average and as much as I loved Joel Kinnaman in The Killing, this show makes him seem like a one character actor.
I'll stick with it a bit longer, but I have a feeling I'll be bailing on it soon.
Warren, to your point, yes cringe-worthy, ex-positional dialogue and voice overs. I ate that up. I just finished watching it and highly recommend to anyone who likes Blade Runner / Maltese Falcon / Doll House - gritty, noir, scifi, detective thriller that is way overwritten and almost gratuitous to a fault. Be cautioned that it is incredible exploitative and violent.
6 episodes in and I'll be trying to squeeze in another 2 tonight. I've noticed a couple weak points with the storytelling, but it's easily overlooked because the rest is so amazing.
Finished now. Still hate the voice overs and think the acting is pretty bad but the story definately carries it. Episode 3 was a bit of a waste of time and was quite stupid, but other than that it's pretty good and I'd recommend it.
Two peps in for me ....and as much as I adore the sci-fi subgerne of cyberpunk, (and thought the cyberspace trip was neat visually) I find theshow to be moving at a turtle's pace. And sure enough, just when things get really boring...? T & A.
And I'm still falling asleep. I think I'll watch onemore ep cuz I need to slump it's been a busy day...
This was my treadmill entertainment for a couple of weeks. I liked the story and concept, but it's clearly intended for men, IMO. Lots of violence and sex. Well, nudity. 99% female of course. Except for ep 2, I think, where there was male. It was a bit scary to be honest.
Lots of fighting which I don't really care for. Didn't care for the torture scenes either. Having said that, I still stuck with it because I thought the concept and story was good.
I like it very much. Never could have thought I was able to watch something like this. A bit pretentious when it comes to characters mannerisms, but I look past it. And I notice quite an often use of Deux ex-machine which works in this. I guess it's down to how you use it - the creators made it feel organic and believable. Don't want to use spoilers and bring up specific examples to illustrate what I'm talking about.
