Obviously not the kind of movie you'd expect me to be reviewing, but my girlfriend wanted to see this and I knew this would be the final week at the theaters...and, believe it or not, I saw the original with her, and actually enjoyed it.
So, yeah, I liked it. I'm not gonna lie. In fact, I liked it more than the girlfriend did, as she was expecting something completely different and had trouble with the fact that this is mostly all Flashbacks involving a much younger Donna, Sam, Harry, Bill, Rosie, and Tanya.
For me, it's the kind of movie that's hard to dislike, as it's so happy, fairly funny, and actually quite emotional, for some crazy reason. The settings are all very beautiful, as well. And, having ABBA songs sung in such an upbeat manner, with huge sets and setups, just makes me smile.
So, there, peeps, I'm more than death and destruction, and can appreciate a good movie, no matter what the genre is. You get me?
Don't know how this wasn't titled: ABBA DABBA DEUX
They probably didn't want to roll the dice with US intellectual property laws. You know, where any arrangement of five circles gets you sued by the International Olympic Committee, yet you can shred Sesame Street's trademark with impunity, while it takes decades to determine that Happy Birthday has been in the public domain for decades.
Or it might be that they aren't as punny as you are.
