If this was fourteen entries I'd be disappointed at the turnout. However, thirteen is too cool for a Halloween contest to be disappointed with. Pity, it isn't a Friday also.

I am still shocked though... this is an opportunity to have something published as opposed to winning a mug. Not that the mug isn't great. You know what I mean. Very strange. IMO, every writer here should have landed on this opportunity.

The mug is never guaranteed.  It's a challenge, not a contest...

I think that several things are playing into the lower turnout including the the comic format, the open-endedness of the theme, the maturation of the members, and, of course, the slow, sad, decline of SimplyScripts...

Also, I didn't advertise this outside of SimplyScripts.

I'm cool with this.  I want to try new things which may not resonate with SSers and I'm willing to fail.  However, I don't consider 13 submissions a fail.  Zero submissions is a fail.

tho, I do feel bad for the 52 writers I had to reject to make the numbers come out...

I felt EXACTLY the same way when I saw and counted the entries. You spoke my heart.

Stop it, it's creeping me out.

Well, that was a quick one.

Two, possibly three  contenders for me.

It was a tough challenge, I thought everyone did well.

I've read a few and will read the rest. I'm at a rapid chess tournament all day today so I will get stuck back in tomorrow. Or perhaps read a couple tonight.

The 52 other writers can still submit normally. I'm busy writing for the 7WC so I'll see what I can do. Not guaranteeing anything.

And Don, don't be saying such blasphemous things. SS is not dying. It's just in hibernation like a bear lol.

Just Murdered by Sean Elwood (Zombie Sean) and Gabriel Moronta (Mr. Ripley) - (Dark Comedy, Horror) All is fair in love and war. A hopeless romantic gay man resorts to bloodshed to win the coveted position of Bridesmaid. 99 pages.

I was kidding not only about the 52 other writers.  And, too, about SS dying.  A long-running inside joke that has been going on for the last fifteen years...

A full spectrum of entries for this OWC. Some were quite rough while others equally good. I definitely have my favorites.

Kudos to all that entered and good luck!

Well that was a quick and easy reading list. Two were standouts for me, but I think the general quality was quite high.

Good luck to everyone than entered.

Done and dusted. I'm not an entrant btw. Not saying that to skite, just saying it as a heads up.

It was a cinch reading through all these and commenting. I don't think anyone has any excuses for not being able to devote themselves to this lot, even if you work two jobs and have ten kids, you still should be able to manage it.

Kinda disappointed there weren't more classic Creature Feature characters, but pat on the back to everyone who entered.

Look forward to seeing the final Hyper Epics product.

Read and commented on them all. For me, one is just perfect, one almost perfect and just needs a tweak and one needs quite a bit of work but the ending is so good I think it's worth the effort.

Well done to all who entered! Trying to write something that fits into these parameters is not easy. There are plenty of entries that had loads of potential, either as a comic or a short script, but just need a re-think. In my opinion of course.

I'll get reading tomorrow. Still drained after the tournament yesterday and am nowhere near my normal sarcastic, hateful self. I may actually start enjoying other people's scripts and we can't have that, can we?

Been a while since I've been in one of these things : forgotten just how good the collective consciousness on here is. Sometimes brutal, but always illuminating and a lesson in making sure you get all your pieces in place.

Special shout out to Libby and Jeff for their in depth reviews on the scripts.
