"Ghost Writer" is a rather unusual way of describing what is presumably a "Script Doctor" - I've never heard it put that way before.

I know a professional script Doctor - might pass this info on.

Thanks for posting this information, Anthony - your selfless efforts are much appreciated.

A ghost writer is someone who gets paid to write for you, but don't get credit. Let's say someone wants to write a script based on their life, but they can't write worth a darn on their own. They might hire a writer to write the script or book for them. Many celebrity books are written this way. "I really wanted to get my story out there." And, that's probably true, but more often than not, they didn't actually write the book. Someone else did the actual writing.

My pleasure Simon, and as Pia said a 'ghost writer' is someone paid to write a story/script but usually without any acknowledgment or credit given to them.

I say usually because I've seen internet ads where the advertiser doesn't really understand the term and is offering credit, often because they are actually looking for a collaborator.

Heard the term in relation to novels but never script writing, that's what I found odd.

Have passed it on to my Script Doctor friend anyway. She used to live in LA (went to UCLA) so may be right up her street. She's got a good rep for restructuring scripts here in UK anyway.
