For those of you interested. The BBC Writer's Room have opened their window for call for scripts, deadline is 19th April. I'm not sure I will enter, it's too short a period.

Looks like a good opportunity, am I right in thinking there is no charge? I can't see a fee anywhere.

Also, does anyone else's toes curl at the thought of a comedy writer's room? A bunch of people all trying out funny each other. I dunno, depends if you have a similar sense of humour I suppose but sounds a bit cringe. Doesn't help that I'm not a big sitcom fan I guess.

Will keep an eye out for the drama room.

No charge. All paid through the British TV Licence. Which reminds me I have to make my payment.

I agree with you colkurtz8, the Drama room sounds much more of a comfortable prospect.
I really feel out of step with modern British comedy. I long for the days of the Two Ronnies, Morcambe and Wise, and Kenny Everett.

Nice, no fee, always a good thing.

Yeah, I loved The Office, Fawlty Towers, Seinfeld and to a lesser extent Cheers. That's about it. Too much cloying pathos in modern sitcoms. They want to make you laugh and make you "feel", usually fail at both.

I haven't watched many British sitcoms but think that IT-Crowd was pretty good. Can't think of any other. Black Mirror is good, not a comedy but as TV series it delivers.
Can't remember any other British TV series.

If it's British I'll check it out. I feel ashamed to know so few.

Yep, British, and very British in tone/style too... BBC and first two series are on Netflix I think.

I thought the first series of Fleabag was very, very good.

Peep Show's always strong, too.

- Actually, if you read the super fine print you'll see that Aussies were permitted until you went tampering with balls. BBC feels this sort of behavior is incompatible with the culture they want to foster going forward.

Harsh but fair.

You might be allowed in next year. Maybe.
