I'm sure you have all heard about the new Green Hornet movie, being penned by Kevin Smith? Well I was just wondering...what's going on with it??!! First there was a lot of rumors going around the net, then everything just stopped. I'd LOVE to see a Green Hornet movie!!

Apparently Jake Gyllenhal (or whatever his name is!) was attached to play Britt Reid/Green Hornet, and Jet Li to play Kato. I don't think Jet's right for Kato, maybe someone else, but I hope they do Bruce Lee justice on screen! Don't really know Jake Gyllenhal, but I'm sure he would be good enough.

Even though I don't know Hornet's complete backstory, I know it was originally a hit radio show in the '30s and have seen a couple of episodes of the old Bruce Lee series, which I think most people who know Green Hornet remember it as.

Personally, I think the public would dig a big-budget Green Hornet movie. I know if I were in charge I would make it a cross between James Bond, Dick Tracy and Batman, culminating into a new type of show. I'd take the swavvy sophistication of Bond, give it the look and feel of Dick Tracy, with all the gadgets and gizmos of Batman! Now...how could you turn THAT one down? lol

I think the filmmakers have enough to work with to make it interesting. One of the best factors of the show is that The Green Hornet operates on both sides of the law, which would set him apart from this whole superhero genre. I think the audience need something a little different.

And one of the things I'd really love to see is the Hornet's ride - The Black Beauty! It was originally a Cadillac but I think they should change it for the big screen and make it more sleek and cool. The Black Beauty would definately give the Batmobile a run for its money! lol I even heard somewhere that the studio was thinking of putting $30,000,000 into the car alone! WOW, now THAT would be a car to remember...

Anyway, I just hope they do it because I think it has the potential to be a successful new franchise. You never know, maybe it could go right up to The Green Hornet 21! lol! Come on Kevin, give us a good one...

I think there waiting to see how Clerks 2 goes because some big wigs don't think kevin Smith could direct a big budget film. I think it would be a change from the big director big movie trend.

The one thing about Kevin Smith and View Askew is that they do beautiful dvd releases, somebody like him loves what they do unlike some other film makers who just doing it for the coin.

I'm glad Kevin's writing the script because I think he's a great comic writer. I hope he gives us a cool car chase! I check the View Askew/News Askew website regularly to see if there are any updates but its been pretty quiet lately. I'd love Kevin Smith to direct it but I read that he isn't too sure any more about directing a movie of this scale. But here's hoping...

I think The Green Hornet would take the superhero mythos to a new level.
