Quoted from wannabe
@ Michael - This one could be either:  "Anthropophagi - English, (malevolent) headless cannibals."
I had to Wiki that one up because I couldn't figure out how you could be headless AND a cannibal.  LOL.   They use the old face in the chest trick.  Sneaky.

Possible -- But what if they reverse ate them?  Into the ass, out the hatch.  Troma should start production on this tomorrow.

@Bert

I was thinking, as I was coming up with the idea I've got, all the ways this contest could go... and none of them had me being at the top of the heap or getting it produced in this particular contest.

1.  I have not only 1 kid in mine, but 2.  This has already been red flagged to a degree.  Even if my script were the best, it still wouldn't be producible here.
2.  It was a slasher, but a really, really good one.  Maybe even the best one ever made!!  <Hey, I had to.
3.  My writing style is easily detected.  I use (LOCATION) like such in my slugs and a few other quarks here and there.  This kills the anonymous factor on my end.

But I do wish everyone luck and I'm still reading every one of them that I can.

Question
Do we have to stick with the legends/myths named or can we use any Celt/Scottish/Irish mythos?

1. The kids are not an issue....just don't want them to be a common theme.

2. I am open to slashers. They are a legitimate genre and were openly mentioned.

3. I've never seen one of your scripts, so that isn't important and I'm not going to pick (or not pick) based on names.

Get it in.

I'm shocked you didn't read "Kline Manor Pledge"... I was really proud of that one for a weeks work.  I've since re-wrote it and made it longer, but the OWC script still stands as a solid script in my opinion.

Though I did change some of my formatting up to meet page restriction.

You guys over THERE speak English.
Us guys over HERE speak English.
Yet somehow I respect that we don't always speak the same language.

I know script to screen a lot gets changed.

Are you gonna be mindful that we should all be reel keen on UK-Englishifying our US-Englishified submissions?

I can't even respectfully try to include some hackney, stereotype "English" characters, historical or contemporary.

You okay with us Yanks just having our low budget "British/Celtic Mythology" stories read like a bunch of Americans - KNOWING - darn good and well that can be corrected/modified at a later time?

Or do you wanna watch read me embarrass myself with what I think someone over there MIGHT talk like?
Shall I watch SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ a few times before writing?
Seriously.

DJ -
You're always welcome.
I like to see stories that have some sense to them.
Anything I can do to contribute to keeping the sheep from wandering off into the bushes too far.

Think I might actually participate this time around. The subject matter is just too juicy. I've got the basic story mapped out but want to spend a little more time on it before I start writing. If it feels hammered out or subpar in anyway or even just moderately good/adequate, I won't submit it. Posting exclusively quality work is something of a New Years' resolution for me.

Don't worry an iota about the language. It's an easy fix. Even if I'm writing a script myself, I run it through wit the actors to make sure that it sounds right in their accents.

Worry more about the situations, the structure and the atmosphere.

Do google some images of these places...for instance:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadair_Idris

That's some pretty spectacularly cinematic scenery.

It can be reached by a path from this place:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolgellau

http://www.google.co.uk/images.....biw=1259&bih=764

That should hopefully give you a wibe for the type of places we're talking about.

In a week perfection is impossible, just try and come up with a concept that is so intriguing it draws people in. Something that's cinematic and exciting.

Ultimately the selection (if any!) will be at my discretion, so let me worry about whether it's any good or not.

You should use that line in a script.

I'm from Manchester btw.

Quoted from Baltis.
But it might be harder than you think to write a "KICK ASS" script in that amount of time...

I've participated in three or four of the challenges and my track record says otherwise, Balt. One was produced.  One is currently in production.  And one was the winner in the iScript competition and was made into an mp3.

You just have to come up with a very simple story.  Aim for something half the maximum length for the competition and it's easy.
