No, I don't live near Salem. The way I wrote the story was to transform the entire town to a more old fashioned look, so you probably won't recognize anything.
It might seem like a horror, but once you read it you'll see it's more like Van Helsing or The Mummy - an action film with horror creatures.
Not sure if this helps you, but you should know that Salem is not at all like a little town anymore. The witch trials took place in a wide area though, in the Salem area, so there are towns that sill maybe fit the description. So it could still work. Also, you could have a town called Salem somewhere in the midwest that was formed by settlers from Salem who left after the trials. I'm just trying to help, Curits, because I know the area, and modern Salem is pretty widely known.
Thanks much. I do appreciate the feedback. I was aware that the town has of course expanded, as 90% of towns do, but I thought maybe I could pull it off. If it doesn't work, then I'll have to fix it. Thanks again!
I just researched it for you. Topsfield was one of the witch trial locations that is still a classic little New England town. Actually, the town I live in now, Andover, was loaded with witches. There's a house at the end of my street that was built in the 1650s and where an accused lived. The way the place looks, she could still live there!
Wow, I really appreciate it! My intention was to create a sort of alternate universe, where monsters and such exist, which is why I wasn't worried about accuracy, but hey, this could work just as well!
