The Seven Week Challenge Theme and Genre is:

Theme: Female Lead
Genre(s): Thriller, Horror, Action, Sci-fi (any of these or combination of them)

Limitations: There must be a McGuffin. Aim for low to medium budget. (Don't feel too limited by this.  As Pia has pointed out, it's amazing what some can achieve if they have the right CGI friends or a spaceship set to their disposal.

Optional: Submit first 10 pages by 7/31

Scripts due September 11th at 11:59 pm edt.

Why?

I can't write female leads, trust me.  I tried to write a script about a female assassin once, and I failed miserably.  I'm a bloke aye, and I sometimes project myself onto characters which yields weird results when it comes to females.

Btw, what's the minimum number of pages?

Just write the character as you normally would. Just give the character a female name. Write she instead of he. Make her smarter, cooler more kick-ass and if you have a sex scene, make the other person a woman as well. Boom! Instant winner!

As far as page count goes, I would say no less than 80 pages, but this isn't a real competition, so if you end up with 70, no one is going to disqualify you.

Okay, I'll try my best, and if I'm not happy with it I won't upload.

I guess it's a win win.

You should do like Jack Nicholson's character in As Good As It Gets.

Receptionist: Oh come on! Just a couple of questions. How hard is that?

She scampers up to Melvin

Receptionist: How do you write women so well?

Melvin Udall: I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.

Actually it's now a great day for flying if you want to spread out and get a whole row to yourself.

Re the 7WC - nice one Don, pretty open except for the McGuffin which should be able to be worked in nicely - famous last words.

Personally, I hope there won't be too many female assassin scripts.

And Ren, yep that's a classic line.

For what it's worth, I will be reading these as potential for no-budget production. I will have a full warehouse space in November and would like to recycle some sets/wardrobe from the sci-fi feature we're shooting this month.

I will also be writing, of course. Low-budget, containted, artsy sci-fi for me

No problem!

As I mentioned in the other thread, I already have my little beat sheet worked out,. and have had a five page head start.

Haven't gone down this thread to see if we are aliasing ourselves.
Unless otherwise stated, I won't be aliasing myself this time around.

If there is, my entry will be a standout.
No, it isn't rom-com.

Look at Sarah Connor in the Terminator, and then her change in Terminator 2.
I love those movies too, and I did cry at the end of Terminator 2 also, so you're not alone there. I watched it on the box the other night, caught it by accident, but was glued to the screen. I knew what was coming, but still had that lump in my throat when Arnie bids fairwell. The music also helps create that feel, but still, I'm a grown guy and I cry over a movie.

I'd like to participate in this to redeem myself in respect to my recent behaviour to other members.

I'd like to help out and learn at the same time.
