Hi All

I've recently joined Script Revolution and noticed that a lot of scripts are accompanied by poster images.

Most look really good, I know a few of you are on there, if so, how do you make those things? Do you do it yourself or get someone else to do it?

I would like to make some for mine, but no idea where to start lol

Thanks

Matt

You can post them on here. If you have adobe or some other drawing program, you can do it or ask someone to do it.

If I need to knock up something quick myself, I use https://www.postermywall.com/index.php/g/theatre-posters

I pick a template which kind of reflects the script, then edit it to suit. You can get a basic low quality image for free but that's good enough for websites like Script Revolution. If you need a proper poster sized quality image, they do charge for that.

If I'm after something more original and visually impressive, I have a friend who does these for me. I basically do some writing and script editing for him in return.

I do my own. I know a bit of photoshop. I did 10 different posters for one of my feature scripts, most were with an 80s vibe to them, because that was what the tone of the script was. Here's one:

They don't seem to help much in getting people to read your script though, from my experience. I'm talking about people in "power", not normal readers.

Yea I don't want to take too long doing them, just to add a bit of visual variety to my page.

Thanks for the link Mark, will check that one out later when I have some free time.

I have knocked a few together using https://spark.adobe.com/make/posters/movie-posters/
They look very amateur, but they will do.

That looks very nice Demento, don't think I can create one that good to be honest lol

Cool poster.

Agree with you that they have little value other than adding something attractive to the sites where you post. i.e., I put images on my site for readers to click - a little bit more appeal than just a link.

There’s a thread here you can post the poster or post it in your signature box to lead to your script. Another creative outlet.

I do it all the time. When I first joined Rev I could keep it sweet and simple. Now....they got to be Rhino hide big. Don't ask me why. I've had to redesihn a few of them already...not a bad thing because it makes me think of revisiting a few scripts here and there and see if they also need a bit of upkeep.

I  do mine in photoshop, although a few early ones at SR was gone in that lame ass knockoff  Gimp. I hate Gimp. Pain in the rear.
I use special free Photoshop brushes like smoke effects brushes. If you do your own art, don't make it too busy, get some flow.
Keep fonts consistent, uniform, readable. Drop a little shadow on the layer if you have to to make it stand out a little.

Procreate is a cool Ipad software that has a lot of the features of Photoshop. It's only about 10 dollars/ pounds.

Wow! Some really cool sites and suggestions here. I always do several posters... throughout the writing...I'll have posters(my homemade things ripped from pics on google) up everywhere... I'll have a poster of a star that may be right for the part... just to get in the mindset of writing a script. Sometimes it looks like a detective office in my office because I have things plastered everywhere connected by strings... or dots...
