Hiya, everybody. I just got back in town and I thought I would check to see if anybody posted. Guess not=( I know, cry me a river.

I'm anxious to get feedback on this before I get coverage in September. I'm currently writing the sequel, and hopefully a third and last, depending on the coverage I get. Any comments, critiques and praises are all welcome.

I can't believe it's been over a year since I posted this script, and not a single comment, other than my own :-/

I mentioned, that I submitted this draft to the 9th annual Slamdance Screenplay Competition.  I didn't win ??) Big surprise, lol. However, the coverage I received, if anyone is remotely interested, was not all that bad. To sum up, my highest score was originality, and the lowest being structure. The five criterias they look for:  structure, dialogue,  story, character dev and originality. What sucks, is that they don't tell you how you fare with the remaining three.

Anyway, I decided not to move on with a sequel just yet, although I know where I would like it to go. Instead I'm doing a rewrite (3rd draft), focusing more on structure, tweaking the core story a bit more. I'm also changing the working title to something that better reflects the big picture.

Although I did receive coverage from the competition, I  would love to hear from other writers/readers that frequent these boards. Good, bad, or whatever. Above all,  I would really like input on story, dialogue and character dev.

I suggest you to post your script in other format than fdr, like rtf or pdf. Many users of this board donīt have final draft, so changing the format will surely help to get more feedback.

Yeah, the fdr format is always a turn off for me. I was unaware until I read your instructions that there was a viewer, but since 95% of the reading I do is from work, I can't download the viewer there, nor could I get it over there. Pdf is the best format for me, personally, since there is a block on downloading rtf and doc files at work as wel, though I know how to bypass the restriction by using an online pdf coverter. If there is such a converter for fdr online, then there is hope for me on these fdr files.

I've always written and properly formatted my scripts in Word, so I've never had the need for final draft or any other screenwriting software.

I think what Wes is getting at is that you can't just post a script, leave, and expect people to comment. That's not how the site works, it's more likely that you'll get reveiws and what not if you're an active member on simply scripts. Anyone can waltz in post a script and leave, but if everyone did that, then we'd have a bunch of scripts with no comments and no one would get any better.

A suggestion, resubmit the script in html format, more people will read it that way. And start coming to the site regularly, what set Wes off is the fact that you're coming after a year expecting comments and reveiws when the fact of the matter is you haven't commented or done anything here at all.

More people are prone to read scripts from people who participate rather then those who just drop scripts off and wait for comments.

Cleaning up this thread was a good idea.

An additional caveat to UBV's comment, JH:  The scripts you read were from authors that were not active participants themselves.  Hence, when you took the time to give good feedback (which you did), there was nobody around to return the favor.

I'll read something that really catches my eye, but when I have the time to choose something, I will give highest priority to those that spend time reading and commenting on other people's stuff -- that way, you are more likely to get a read of your own stuff in return.

That's how the board works in an ideal world, anyway.

Bert, thanks for the feedback. I completely agree with you. Taking time out to read more screenplays from regular posters would be a great idea. I didn't realize the screenplays I reviewed were from writers who don't spend as much time on this site as some of the others.  Good observation.

Also, converting to a more conventional format is something that some of the posters were recommending. I'll look into it.
