Sylvester Stallone has confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Rambo IV will start production this October.

"Stallone admits that it was hard coming up with a plot for the new film. “You know, it’s hard”, Sly tells the magazine. “Politics have changed so much. Why do we fight? The Finns? You can’t do that. The Dutch? That’s not gonna work. Wooden shoes are not gonna look cool [Laughs]”.-moviehole

In the next installment, Rambo is living in a monastic lifestyle in Bangkok and salvaging old PT boats and tanks for scrap metal. When a group of volunteers bringing supplies into Burma disappears, a relative of one of the missing missionaries begs Rambo to find them.

Is Sly gonna keep making Rambo and Rocky movies until he dies?

I saw a pic of him about a month ago filming Rocky and WOW, he's like 60 now or something? He is in pretty good shape, especially for his age so I wouldn't bet against him not making more.

I've never even seen the other Rambo's yet. So after seeing this one, I'll think about watching the others.

Moviehole received word that Sylvester Stallone has thrown out the name Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra for the fourth installment of the franchise:

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not. On the news tonight, when Stallone was being interviewed by Richard Wilkins, he said that the name of the 4th Rambo film is going to be called John Rambo, in keeping with the "Rocky Balboa" thing.

Stallone has had a bit of controversy over here. He was detained from leaving Aus policemen searched his hotel room and private jet.

John Rambo sounds better than "Pearl of the Cobra" I reckon.

John Rambo is a better title than Pearl of the Cobra but I still don't really like it. I'm sure they could come up with something better. I don't know why he's done it. Rocky and Rambo are two completely different franchises.

Maybe so, but when you're the guy with the money who is calling all the shots, you can call it whatever you want to call it...even if the franchises only relate through your glowing persona.

Some new casting rumors.

Quoted from joblo.com
RAMBO 4 (or JOHN RAMBO or whatever it'll be titled) is gearing up for production in April, but (ignoring the oft-erroneous IMDB listings) we haven't heard much by way of official casting. Now we hear that Western regular Sam Elliot may apparently be assisting Stallone's former Green Beret with his familiar drawl and masterful mustache.

An LA-based actor auditioned for a role as a young mercenary in the flick, and claims that aside from the previously announced Matt Marsden and an unknown actor named Sai Mawng as the villain, Elliot just joined up this week.

Rambo has his enemy:

A retired rebel soldier from the jungles of eastern Myanmar has been plucked from obscurity to play a brutal Burmese officer opposite Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone in his latest "Rambo" movie.

Reuters reports that Sai Mawng, 40, an ex-guerrilla from the Shan State Army, which has been fighting for independence in the former Burma since 1948, was picked from nearly 300 applicants for the part.

The producers of John Rambo had reportedly been looking for a "Burmese male, 32-40, military-looking man, character face, unlikeable."

In the movie, renegade Vietnam War veteran John Rambo comes out of retirement as a boat repairman in Bangkok to track down missionary aid workers who have disappeared in the jungles of impoverished Myanmar.

The movie is being filmed in a village near the city of Chiang Mai.

The first pics of Sly as Rambo have appeared online. He looks pretty beat up already, so I guess he's really back.

By the way I just saw the first footage from John Rambo, and oh my God...the R-rated actioner is back! In fact, some of that stuff is beyond R. It looks like an NC-17 flick!

Follow the link above. For two days, this footage will be hosted on AICN. And then, it’s gone. Warning, this clip is really violent. But that’s a good thing.

I've never seen a Rambo movie before, but this looks pretty cool. I'll track the originals down before I see this one.

Wow...that was pretty much the most gory trailer I've ever seen. This looks awesome! The camera work seems a little low-budget though, which I guess will work for this film, because in the trailer it feels very real...as if it were a documentary.
