Just watched the latest superman video journal #21 and have to say, from the others I've seen this could be a great film. I'm not really that much in love with the comic book adaptations as I once used to be, but viewing all the behind the scenes has really brought that love back.

As a HUGE captain America fan I'm always waiting for new news of this production being set. If any one has any news of this please let me know. I can't seem to find any information on this one franchise at all.

I've written some pretty great screenplays such as the follow up to "CITY OF EVIL" and the second season of "IMMORTAL FAITH" and just watching these journals really gets my creative juices boiling.

Keep up the great work on this franchise.

Kevin Spacey as Luthor? Great actor, but he doesn't seem right as Lex Luthor...

That new Superman is certainly easy on the eyes  ;D Thank you very much for the pics, lol! Not as handsome as Christopher Reeves was mind.

I simply cannot get into this guy... Superman, that is. I just feel he's so... just lame. He's not imposing. He's not scary. He's just... I dunno... kinda lame. I never really did like him, though. I didn't care for none of the movies either.

So I won't be dissapointed in this movie either way. I've no expectations of it being good or bad.

I did like how Doomsday killed Superman, though... maybe someone needs to make a movie about that ;)

I don't think they needed to make another Superman flick, personally, but I am a fan of the others definately. I even bought part 4... :o Well, I never found Mr Reeeves scary, but he did have a presence about him. Have no clue who this new bloke is to be honest. Will be interesting to see what he does with the role.

Superman with Dean Cain sucked. Superman the teenage years Smallville is even worse. Hope this one turns out ok.

Gonna have to say that I love Smallville. The only gripe I have is that around the beginning of last season they completely toasted the comic book storyline. I can only hope that this is the last season of Smallville. There is very little left for them to mess with, but I have no doubt the producers will try.

I hope this does really well, I was and still am a massive fan of all four Superman films.
I doubt this will get anywhere near as good as the first three, (yes even the thrird one) and there will never be any one able to replace Christopher Reeves.
But lets just hope they make an enjoyable movie and Im looking forward to seeing Supes back in action, even after all these years!

I love Smallville, and I think Tom Welling is easier on the eyes more than Routh, but that's not why I like Smallville ;) I hope this movie turns out well, but I agree, no one can replace Reeve.

Cheers for the correction on the "Reeve" matter lol. Bad habit.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I just thought I'd let you know that the 26th Superman Returns Video Journal is now online over at http://www.bluetights.net. Things have been a bit slow with the Superman production lately, mostly because the cast and crew took a break and went back to the US to celebrate Bryan Singer's 40th birthday!

I'm surprised we haven't even seen a teaser trailer for the film yet. Principal photography will wrap in about a month's time, so I hope we will get to see something soon!

The teaser isn't bad. I thought there would have been a bit more to it though. But I suppose its only a teaser. The longer trailers are always better!

Amen to that. Yeah, I saw the trailer when I went to see Harry Potter. But if it's coming Summer 2006, they can only get better (and longer) as time goes by.

I agree with what Balt said awhile back.

The fact that glasses hide his identity is utterly ridiculous. It's fantasy but come on.

I don't think he's gay or looks that way though because Spiderman also wears red tights so what's that saying about both heroes? They all have to wear that because it is written in the books, nothing more.

I don't agree with the casting of Lois Lane .. Kate Bosworth? I can hardly buy her as a  brunette.

I'm looking forward to this movie more than I thought I would...I just saw the teaser for it and it looks pretty good. I've never been a big fan of Superman but IMO this one will be great.

I agree. And btw, I think I've figured out part of the plot for this movie! Don't know for sure, but it fits in with all the rumors and gossip I've read and it would be pretty cool to see! But I'm just going to wait until the movie is released to see if I'm right, don't want to look like an idiot if I'm wrong! All I'm going to say is...remember when Clarke was in the Arctic in the original Donner movie and he threw the green crystal, thus forming the Fortress of Solitude? That looked pretty dangerous didn't it? I wonder what would happen if that was to occur in the wrong place, with lots of people and buildings around, like Metropolis perhaps...? :X

The brand new, theatrical trailer is up:

My only two comments: A.) Kevin Spacey is a god amongst men and B.) God help the AMC near my house if they're not showing this on the IMAX screen for the midnight opening.

Ha! That was awesome! A little more campy than I expected but maybe that's just the way they cut the trailer. Still excited and pulling my hair out until June.

This is one of the movie events of my lifetime.  Not since Lord of the Rings have I been so excited to see a film, and before that, Episode 1 (pbthhh) was the only film to get me so anxious.

And I think the trailer looks great.  I wouldn't say it's that well put together, but the footage they show...ha!  Kevin Spacey is the stuff that dreams are made of, and Routh looks every bit as bumbly/every bit as all-American as he should.

I've never liked Superman but this one actually looks good.
Posted by: Kotton, May 3rd, 2006, 1:29pm; Reply: 30
I just watched the trailer and I was surprized. It actually was reminiscent of the original Superman movies with Christopher Reeves.I thought that it was going to be a stylized, moody take like a lot of comics turned movies turned remakes have been.

I'm even more anxious to see this now!

I'm also curious as to whether John Williams is doing the entire score or if they just used his theme?

On IMDB it states him as the main theme...I'm just wondering.

I'm patting myself on the back here. I guessed the plot and story (about Lex Luther discovering the kryptonite chrystals and using them to create his own land, at the destruction of everything else) with basically no evidence to support my theory. Sorry, its just that I've always been a little unsure about my writer's intuition, so this gave me a boost considering this was one of the most secretive movies ever made lol!

Btw, Screamer, there is a new composer scoring this film. His name is John Ottman. He worked with Bryan Singer on X2: X-Men United as editor and composer, and did the same on this film. He says he's keeping the John William's score intact and will be weaving it in and out of his own score throughout the film. I think that is the right way to go. I'm glad they're keeping the original Superman theme in there.

I'm glad they are keeping the original music, it's one of the best theme music out there, next to star wars and indiana jone.
