Alright, this is just to keep people up to date with how this is going. It looks like I may have to move to a winter shoot. That's the only bit of bad news. The good news is that this is entirely cast and the rewrite is done.

I'm going to keep this thread updated daily while I go into production of the film.  8)

I'm probably going to be shooting this with a Sony hi 8, with a wide angle lens, 16:9 aspect ration, and a mic, which is pretty much quasi-proffesional grade (so it sounds alright).

I had to change Dave from 19 to 17, simply because of the actour, and Lisa leaves to pick up here kid brother rather then her son. Aside from that most things are the same as the script.

Great, Ziggy. I want to hear what you go through making a film.

Yeah, I'm really knew at it, so this thread is my way of staying focused. Although what I have done, people are really impressed by.

Woo. You are making my script haha.
What all have you done?
Posted by: Chris_MacGuffin, August 7th, 2005, 7:12pm; Reply: 5
Casted and I have a place to shoot. We're probably going to rehearse from September to October, maybe longer. Then during winter break, we're going to film, and probably have it edited and done in January.

Sounds really exciting! Please keep us posted!

Andrew, you must be well chuffed! How cool is that?!

You can see the camera in some of my pics on my myspace account.

And yeah, if it's not already appearent I love obscure, dutch, and extreme angles. Plus quick paced editing and ambient music.

Oh and another note, the pic I have on my avatar and the new ones up at myspace were shot with the camera, so that's kind of the quality of the film.

I am chuffed. Haha that word makes me laugh.

I can't imagine what it'd be like to have a script that you wrote filmed. What a great compliment!

Chris, best of luck to you on this project!

Andy, glad I made you -> ;D

Here's a quick teaser poster I made using just paint.  ;D

You should invest in Photoshop ... that program could make killer posters.
Posted by: Chris_MacGuffin, August 9th, 2005, 12:45am; Reply: 12
Yeah, I know. I've used it before, and for the actually poster, I probably will.

This is just a quick thing I did for fun.

It looks cool. Paint eludes me. I just make smily faces ;)

That I do, that I do  ;)

So if all goes well, I should be able to film the scenes outside the freezer prior to winter break.  So that's some good news, and good news always keeps me going.  ;D I'm going to storyboard and plan out a shooting schedule this week.  I want to keep this well planned.

Any new progress? It's been a while since you updated.
Posted by: Chris_MacGuffin, August 25th, 2005, 7:21pm; Reply: 18
Oh yeah, there are. Right now, I'm waiting for Andrew to submit the last couple pages of the flick. The schedule is pretty much the same, and I'm right on track the film. I'll probably have a cameo as Tom. And I have the script storyboarded and rehearsals are set for September to October...

The only changes in the script is some dialogue and voice overs.

Oh good to be back, haven't been here in months, school and moving and all.  Hey good luck filming, it's much harder than it seems.  Me and my friends filmed a short and it took a very long time.  My advice, plan everything out in advance and give yourself plenty of time to film and edit.  Working with serious people always helps too ;D.  Well good luck and keep us posted.

Mike.

Thanks for the advice, yeah, I'm working with people that I trust are going to to stay focused, and I'm planning the hell out of this. I have a vision of how I see this, and I want to see it realised. Actual filming isn't until winter break, but until then, we're planning and rehearsing.

Good, it seems like everything is falling into place. With my short, I had it storyboarded and all organized, but when filming started, everything fell apart: only two girls could make it for the first day of filming so we could only shoot two scenes, and then those scenes were all screwed up when I checked the tape. I changed casting for the main guy character the same day I had an opening in my location to film and that night, the main guy showed up but he didn't even read the script before filming. We could only do one scene. The next shoot, everyone came and we practically did the entire thing in three hours -- I was running around with my head cut off, but we got it all done. While I was with part of the cast, the others were playing hangman on a dry-erase board and watching Everybody Loves Raymond. Though I felt I was going to need some stress medication, it was all worth it. Two of the cast had me autograph their scripts saying they would be worth something someday, and that made me feel really good. Anyway, I hope it turns out really well, and I hope you can put it online so I can see it when it's all done.

The store I'm looking to film in is closing down. Some may see that as a bad thing I see it as incentive. So if all goes accordingly, I should be set to film a couple scenes this weekend.

Isn't that a good thing if it's abandoned? It would be much easier to do what you need to do and you don't even have to worry about leaving crap around ha-ha

Iw pouldn'yt have the guts to go and ask to use tsoemone to use thier store. They;d probably laugh at em And besdiesi don't even own a video camera,  let alone these digital things you talk of. Any films i have made have been created with a normal camcorder. No music. Bad sound. Grainy.

But i hopwe yours turns out good. I've read the script and would love to see how it turns out.

Is there any updates on how this is coming along...what happened to the film?

I'm currently balancing this and GTWDLI during the late spring and summer.

I'm going to step back as director on this and remain simply as producer and give the directing job to my brother.
Posted by: Impulse, April 3rd, 2006, 7:24pm; Reply: 35
has your brother ever directed a film before?
