Bruce Willis, interviewed on the set of his new movie Perfect Stranger with Halle Berry, said he can't tell you what will come first: A sequel to 16 Blocks or a new Die Hard.

"They're both being written. We've to throw a few more 'old man' jokes in the Die Hard script, while we do that...we might bring Jack Mosley back".

He was asked whether it's true that Jessica Simpson auditioned for the role of his daughter in the Die Hard film. He laughed, saying, "Man, I don't know even know if that character is even in this version of the script anymore. I can honestly tell you that Bonnie Bedelia and Reginald VelJohnson, from the first films, are the only guys we've talked about bringing back. There has to be enough room in the scene for my walking cane". -comingsoon.net

Hollywood actor Bruce Willis on Friday announced filmmakers are ready to start shooting a fourth Die Hard movie, and they hope to have it in cinemas next year. Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival in France, Willis - who stars as policeman John McClane in the Die Hard films - revealed the highly-anticipated sequel is expected to start filming soon.

He said, "We're as close as we've ever got to getting Die Hard 4 started. It won't be called Die Hard 4 but that will be the story. Hopefully it will be out next summer."

The movie's plot had to be rewritten after last year's Hurricane Katrina tragedy - the original screenplay involved an oil tanker explosion that sends huge waves flooding into New Orleans, Louisiana. -imdb.com

I really hope it doesn't flop. I'm sure it won't. I have much faith knowing that Bruce had previously read many other Die Hard 4 scripts and turned them away. He obviously didn't want to rush into another Die Hard film just to make big money from it. Come on!! I want to see critics everywhere saying: John McClane Back!! Not John McClame is Back!! (See what I did there...? McClane - McClame... it's been done before hasn't it? Oh well... :)

That must suck to have been one of those writers that toiled on a screenplay for the fourth installment of the Die Hard Series, just to have Bruce tell you "No."  I guess on the bright side it's Bruce Willis telling you no, instead of some production company's secretary.

Same thing with the Indiana Jones 4 script.  M. Night Shaymalan's script was rejected for Christ's sake!

Whoa! M Night Shyamalan did a script for Indiana Jones 4!!! And it was rejected!!! Huh? Where have I been? Has someone already started an Indiana Jones 4 thread?

Last time I heard, Doug Richardson was penning this one, Along side the actual screenwriter Mark Bomback. I love these films, the trilogy is great.

I am still left in the dark over who will pick up the directors credit for this one though. I know Bruce Willis is producing it along with John McTiernan and Arnold Rifkin.

I also read there was problems with the script, What does that mean? LOL!! Going into pre-production with script problems, wow that must have been a setback for them.

But still I am looking forward to this, my excite o meter is tilted already. And I'm dying to see who will play John McClane's daughter. At least we won't be seeing the peachy behind of Jessica Simpson. BLAH!!

I hope they get a good director for this, I don't think it wil be McTiernan cause he may be going to jail.

I heard Natalie Portman was going to be McClane's daughter.  Doesn't get much better than that.
Posted by: Combichrist, May 29th, 2006, 5:54am; Reply: 12
Natalie Portman, Niiiiiice....

I also heard that believe it or not JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE might be playing his son. I don't know if he got the part but Bruce was impressed with Justin's other films. Edison and another I believe.

"Len Wiseman (Underworld: Evolution, Underworld) is in talks to direct Die Hard 4 for 20th Century Fox.

The trade says the fourth installment of the franchise finds hero John McClane coming out of retirement to battle an Internet terrorist organization. Bruce Willis will reprise his role as the fearless cop." -The Hollywood Reporter

I just read that over at http://www.latinoreview.com. The site has also reviewed an early draft of the script, which was penned by Mark Bomback and Doug Richardson. They gave it a 'B', which is good enough in my books!

I'm glad to see that Bruce is coming back. I'm also glad that Jessica is not in the movie.

Yeah, I think that would have discredited the movie. I wonder if this film will do well though. I mean, Hollywood hardly has a fantastic track record for producing successful sequels. This sequel though, I would like to see doing well. I like Bruce Willis.

Die Hard has done very well with its sequels, and I wouldn't be surprised if becomes a hit as well. Hopefully they have a good actor or actress playing the bad guy.

Hold on to your wives, everyone involved with this movie!  Len has a tendancy to steal his crew's girlfriends/wives.

The next installment in the "Die Hard" action franchise has received an official title Live Free or Die Hard and will be released next summer over the coveted July 4 holiday weekend, reports Variety.

The Live Free or Die Hard title plays off the now confirmed(USA Today) synopsis which features McClane attempting to stop a techno-terrorist from shutting down the nation's computer systems on the Fourth of July. The story takes place around Washington, D.C.

The movie will face Paramount's Transformers, which opens five days later on July 4.

Sounds pretty cool.  I wonder who they are gonna get as the bad guy?  Should be someone like bill gates :D
Posted by: guyjackson (Guest), August 3rd, 2006, 12:34am; Reply: 22
Phillip Seymour Hoffman!  But I don't think he would play two action/advenutre villians in a row, but damn was he good in Mission Impossible 3.

I think it would be really cool though if the terrorist ended up being like a college student or a young 20's type character.  That would be kind of cool.  It could reiterate the fact at how old McClane really is.

maybe someone like toby maguire or joaquin pheonix, that be interesting.
Posted by: Parker, August 3rd, 2006, 7:01am; Reply: 24
Or maybe Jake Gyllenhaal or Topher Grace... I think they'd look pretty cool as bad guys, especially Jake.

I'm a sucker for the Die Hard movies lol  I still remember seeing the first one in the theater.

anyway I'll be there to see it - good, bad or ugly

Okay Okay. Many of you have read that I hate too many sequels. But, I loved. LOVED. LOVED! The Dir Hard series. I agree that this one will be just as good. As much as I hate lots of sequels I love Die Hard. This movie will be great. Garenteed.

Ugh, they have got to change that title. That's just campy. What does that even mean?

Secondly I'm not that psyched about the plot. Computer nerds? John McClane is battling computer nerds? Sound like Bruce Willis' gonna hand out wedgies for two hours...

Not that I wouldn't pay good money to see that!

Looks like Jeffrey Wright will be playing the villian.  I think he's a pretty cool actor, he was great in Shaft.

Bruce Willis looks better bald than he did with hair.  He was beginning to bald when he was on Moonlighting.

I'm not a big Die Hard fan, but I did like both the Underworld movies as far as they went, so you could say I'm a Len Wiseman fan. It'll be interesting to see what he does directorially with such different material. I can't say I'm looking forward to this movie, but I'll probably give it a look when it comes out.

Cheers, Chism.

That doesn't look too bad at all. I would have prefered to see some stuff with Jeffrey Wright and possibly hear a little more dialog. That thing at the end was bad though. I don't like that actor whoever the hell he is (he was in Jeepers Creepers). Anyway, cool teaser.

Posted by: chism, March 1st, 2007, 2:21am; Reply: 37
Yeah Transformers is gonna be big, despite the director. But this is Die Hard. I'm sure it can stand up to the challenge.

Why was Die Hard 4.0 on the poster? Shouldn't they be advertising it as Live Free or Die Hard? They haven't changed the title again have they?

Cheers, Chismeister.

Not necessarily. Look at Michael Bay’s last film, The Island. That flick’s performance at the box office fell apart like the Columbia. And those annoying fanboys of the original cartoon have criticized almost everything that’s been released about this new Transformers movie.

John McClane > Optimus Prime

That is the international title. Most people outside the states don’t get the Live Free or Die reference.

both can be hits, happy feet and casino royal were released at the same time and both did well, so  i have a feeling both will do well here, one will be pg13, the other R, it will have a different audience, so I think they are safe

Oh I hate it when they change the title of movies for other countries.

Get's up my goat. Like American Wedding. Here, it's called American Pie: The Wedding because our government think we're too stupid to know its an American Pie movie.

Good point... but I will see something different. We already know the same old setups in die hard.  Transformers 1st.

This looks like it's going to be a way over the top action flick with stuff like the car flying into the helocopter.  Hopefully they kept it a little more realistic and that's just to hype it for addreniline junkies.

As a side note, if the movie has a cameo of Sam Jackson in it, it will be worth the admission price just to remember the awesomeness of Die Hard with a Vengence (my favorite of the series).

Yeah but think about Die Hard 2. McClane catapults out of a cockpit filled with grenades, fights a guy on the wing of a plane taking off and finally blows it up by lighting up it's fuel from the ground.

That's pretty OTT.

Good call, but then again, Die Hard 2 was always my least favorite.

Posted by: chism, April 5th, 2007, 8:23pm; Reply: 48
With a Vengeance was my favourite. Samuel L. Jackson made that movie with his constant use of the unabbreviated version of mofo.

I'll probably go and see it. I liked the two Underworld movies and Brillis is always entertaining. I won't be first in line, but I'll get there in the end.

Cheers, Chismeister.

I was really looking forward to this film, I love all three die hards, the trailer looked awesome, but now, with the pg13 rating, which means no yippy kiyay motherfuker, no gruesome violence, just another teeny bopper action flick, I am really disappointed.  Shame on you fox.  You can all go to hell.

Not sure about Canada but here in the states, the word fuck is allowed in PG-13 films. Although the number of times it can be said is heavily restricted. So, we will actually be able to hear McClane say Yippee-Ki-Yay Motherfuckers. But, you are right about the violence. No headshots or blood-filled squibs.  :(

nope , fuck can only be used maximum of 2 times, and it cant be use in reference to sex. So he cant say mother fuckers in pg-13

It's in the film. Take a look at the trailer. He says Yippee-Ki-Yay Motherfu- (the rest was left out due to it only being a trailer.)

Also, check out here and here. Oh, and Willis even confirmed it on the AICN talkback.

still, he says fuck like 1oo times in the other films, I guess he became a mormon, what's next, he quits smoking.
