My magic 8-ball tells me that Mr. Carey was wise to take a pass on this...

My magic 8-ball tells me that this is a horrible fucking idea.

Jim Carey should star in the sequel instead.  Jim Carey should star in sequels to every Jim Carey title ... and he should make a Fire Marshall Bob movie, dammit!

They should all be shot for doing this, what seriously are they thinking? Steven Carell's career is going to be dead before he becomes a star because he takes dumb roles.

He's going to become Pauly Shore and Tom Green but less popular, people like those two guys. Steve can act and is funny but he needs to be smarter in his choices.

But seriously, how many choices is he getting?  Who knows?  Maybe he is making the smartest choices out of all his offers.

I'd rather not work than risk ruining my star power right away if you ask me because eventhough it might make him a couple bucks I think it's a very bad idea unless he thinks it's going to be good which judging by the first it would probably break even and die in the bargain bin at your local video store.

The track record of sequels to Jim Carrey movies without, you know, Jim Carrey..well, it isn't too good.  Actually, it's terrible.

..but who knows?  Maybe it's a good script..

Just an update. Looks as if Satan will be in this film (played by Peter Gallagher from The O.C.) and Carell pay a visit to Hell.

I don't like Steve Carell, I think he's unfunny and just boring to watch... Much like Will Farell and that other saturday night live shmuck... Jammie what's his name or god what's his name? The un-funny guy that does the news? See he's such a pile of shit I can't even remember his name...

Anyways, moral of the story... Steve sucks, Will sucks and that nameless guy all suck and their movies suck too!

I think the 40 year old virgin was ass of the highest order...

I couldn't disagree more, I think Steve Carell has a long and very funny career ahead of him, same with Will Farrel. Great actors with lots of talent.

But that’s just my opinion.  :)

This reminds me of an episode of freinds in which Joey- wait, please, someone shoot me.

Gladly the only show I hate worse than that ungodly piece of trash is Everybody Loves Raymond (But me) and the fact any of them are in films shows how low the film industry has fallen.

That aside yay throw your career away Steve, Jon will always take you back as a low brow reporter.

I, just like Digital Commander, couldn't stand the first Almighty movie. It's has waaaayyy to much language in it.

If you're talking about coarse language, I couldn't disagree with you more.  BRUCE ALMIGHTY contains one instance of the "f" word.  LIAR LIAR contains one instance of the "f" word.  And FUN WITH DICK AND JANE contains one instance of the "f" word.  In each film, that only instance of the "f" word is when someone does something really bad to him, and he calls that person who wronged him a "fucker."  I don't think that's waaaayyy too much.  The word "fucker" is used only once in each film, and only at the onset of a sad part of the film, for dramatic purposes.

First Look at Carell as Evan Almighty, here

Steve Carell recently gave an update on Evan Almighty. It seems the sequel will be PG. “It will be very inoffensive and very sweet. And it will definitely try to appeal to more of a family audience," he said.

"It's the same guy, but he obviously grows. I couldn't play that same character for an hour and a half, because that would be interminable. (Laughs.) He has to evolve. You find out about his family, he's married, he has three boys. It expands the whole picture of who that guy is.”

I actually think this is a good idea. The original was pretty good and the trailer for this made me laugh first time I saw it. I haven't seen Carell in anything that I haven't liked so far. He makes me laugh so hard on The Office. I'm looking forward to this movie. Just to see what they've done different, what they've come up with this time around and all that.

Cheers, Chismeister.
