When I'm done with my script, how would I make it look right? I mean, like, do I staple it after printing it out? Or paperclip it? Do I punch holes in it, and, if so, the holes need to be how many inches a part? Do I need a special covers for the script?

Scripts generally are three-holed punch and kept together with brads.  Use card stock for the front and back covers.  The first page, once you open the card stock cover, should be the title page.  It should consist only of the title of the piece, your name, and contact information.

Incidentally, the card stock covers should be blank and white. No fancy colors or designs or logos. It makes you look like an amateur. Brads are used to hold it together because if the producer likes the script, he wants to be able to take it apart and make copies quickly. Any binding other than brads is too complicated.

Actually, only two brads should be used. There is really no reason to place a third brad in the middle hole. It's three hole punched because it's manufactured that way, but that middle hole is typically left empty.

So, if I were to go to OfficeMax, I'd just go up to a worker and ask for "brads" and "card stocks" for scripts? Would the person even know what I'm talking about?

Card stock, they should know about.  You find it with the paper (card stock is just heavy paper).  Brads are also known as brass fasteners and are usually found with other fasteners (ie:  paper clips, binder clips, etc).  Brads come in different sizes.  Get the right size.  If they're too small, they won't hold the papers.  If they're too big, they get in the way of the reader.

I use 1 ½" brads. You could probably use 1" but I find them to sometimes come loose while reading and you don't want that to happen.


And yes, the clerk should know what they are.
