There may already be a thread like this, but I couldn't find it.

I'm REALLY looking forward to this movie! I read the book last summer and just finished reading the sequel to it. It's going to be awesome! It could be as good as the Harry Potter series if they get it right. But the lead actor has NEVER acted in a movie or show before...or commercial! And the director has NEVER directed a movie before.
You can go to http://www.eragonmovie.com to read the storyline to the movie. They changed the release date of the film from July to December, which really stinks.

This movie is on my “must see” list for 2006.

Its a really good book...but I don't know if this movies going to be good or not...when Lord of the Rings came out, I didn't really care about things they left out or changed because I hadn't read the books yet. But with this, I've read both books a billion times and I'm gonna be really mad if they screw it up...

PS: Lord of the Rings didn't have much that would make me mad even I had read the books...they did an awesome job with that.

I'll have to check it out.

there will probably be some changes from the book, when you adapt a novel it's more like an interpitation, and everyone has a different inturpitation when they read a book.  It's impossible to do everything that is in the novel or the movie would be like 10 hrs long.  As long as they idea and the characters and tell a good story that's all you can hope for.  the only movie that i know that is basicaly word for word from the book is Steven King's the green mile. There were only like a couple little changes, and that movie was over 3 hrs long.

The Eragon web site was updated with new content and everything.

Also, after not meeting their trailer deadline earlier in the year and missing it again with the trailer attachment they promised us with X-Men, Fox 2000 has once again failed me. They were going to attach a trailer to Superman Returns, but they said that the visual effects weren't ready yet.

Oh well.

Looks extremely boring. Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich are the only reasons that I might rent this. Hopefully the trailer will be out eventually and be me something more to go on.

Well, if you want to know if it really is boring, you can read my script version of the book. (Yes, that was a plug).

This will be liked by teenagers and fantasy lovers. Most who liked Lord of the Rings will like this.

Anyway, the book was good.

Fox 2000 has said that they hope to attach a trailer to the upcoming "Snakes on a Plane" movie. They said that they're trying to get it out there soon because there was a recent fake trailer that used a small bit of footage from the movie and a bunch from other movies that could hurt publicity.

They also said that for those too young to see a rated R movie will get to see it online. The trailer debuts online the day before the theatrical trailer release.

FLIPPIN' SWEET! I can't wait. I just hope they actually attach to the film this time.

New movie photos can be found here.

Also, I read that the film has some 3000+ effect shots being created by Weta Digital and ILM.

After telling everyone that they would attach the trailer to X-men 3 and then missing it, Fox 2000 decided to attach the trailer to Superman. They also failed to do that.

And so finally, after a month and a few days, they say that the trailer will be released with Snakes on a Plane...well, they've canceled that too.

Now they're saying that the film will be released with the football movie "Invincible" coming out next week.

The trailer looks good, obivously they've changed it. King G... has a big appearance in the movie when he is only talked of it the book.

I think i saw the bit when Eragon used his first power in the trailer. The whole fire arrow bit. I'm certainly looking forward to this movie.

Trailer looked like a bunch of godawful crap, I thought.  Poorly produced with bad special effects, a lack of originality, and a lame lead actor.

Looked kinda like a poor man's Dragonheart, actually, and that already wasn't particularly good.

Yeah I was actually going to see this because I am a big Sienna Guillory fan, but I have never read the book and from the look of this trailer it's going to be pretty boring and predictable.  Fantasy stories are cool, but come on we need some new ideas, ladies and gentleman.  Young guy discovers he has powers and must save his people...been there done that.  Sienna also looks like she is portrayed pretty weak as well.  The main character looks like he is 14 years old and Sienna is looking up to him?  No thanks.  I hated Lord of the Rings and this just looks like a rip off of it.  And usually rip offs are even WORSE than the original material.  I don't think I'll waste money on this one.  I'll go see Rocky Balboa instead, haha.

I have it Netflix'd already.  I'll see it in May 2007.

I do recommend Chris's fan fic he has up here on SS though.  That actually was pretty good.
