WOW.

I just finished reading Jerry Lewis's book about his life-long friendship with his best friend, Dean Martin. I am still teary-eyed for all the emotion and insight that Jerry shares with us in his book.

Very delicately written, an amazing attention to detail, balanced moreso than I could have imagined and a privilege to be invited into one of the most famous friendships and comedic partnerships ever to have graced the entertainment industry. I am in awe of this book and of every way it's made me feel about the true meaning of friendship, through the good times and the bad.

Both Martin and Lewis have been childhood heroes of mine, so naturally I've always been curious as to how they became friends, how they sustained their 10 year partnership and why they ever went their separate ways!!!!!! I feel like I've been privvy to a lot of personal information, that I never thought I'd ever really find out - the only real shame is the fact that this is all one sided, but then had Dean been still alive, he most likely wouldn't have even commented, because that wasn't his style. This is Jerry's way of honouring his friend, his mentor and he gives us the opportunity to get to know the good, the bad and the ugly nature of even the best of friendships, through his own experiences.

These two men are my all time favourite comedians and I could quite happily watch their skits and shows over any movie that Hollywood churns out today. Long live the old ad lib!

If you have any curiosity about either Jerry Lewis or Dean Martin and about what really happened in regards to their famous split, according to Jerry of course, then definately check out "Dean and Me - A Love Story". It's not to be missed. I am just astounded by this book. Deep breaths, huge sighs and must now go to bed.

"memories are made of this...."
