I just saw this movie last night... and I have to say its one of the best horror slasher flicks to come out in a long time. it's a serious film that avoids the Scream Era "glamorization of violence, and winking at the camera dialogue" and goes for the approach of realism.
This is a horror film that takes a slow burn approach... using the first hour to build tension and flush out the 3 main lead protagonists...and the brutally evil perfomance of John Jarret

I too, thought that the movie was pretty good. My only real qualms was the ubrupt ending. I felt that they could have done a little better job with that because it just ended, that was it.Sure they added the epilogue to explain what happened, though I still felt somewhat cheated.

I agree with you, that the first half was a nice tension build up and the documentary film making style did lend itself to the realism. John Jarret's performance was frightingly refreshing.

Overall it was creepy, especially, for me was towards the end during the road sequence.Well any ways, that's how I felt.

Arg! I hated this movie. I understand the need for character building but having 3 horny 20 somethings running around saying "Yay were going camping" was just boring. John Jarret did do an exellant job I agree but that was the only good thing this film had going for it.

I just prefer films like Scream and Cursed because there is character development mixed in with all the action. Film's like Hostel and Wolf Creek make me want to FF to the end and watch the last 30 min or so.

You can't wait fifty minutes? And when it comes down to it, even the non-horror parts were mildy interesting and funny. I mean, Nathan Phillips kept on telling the UFO stories, the character that they meet in the pub are interesting, and I reckon it's pretty coool to recognize Australian logos in and throughout the film on blillboards etc. (I don't get to see an Aussie film very often).

heh...teenagers.... if someone doesnt get massacred or something doesnt blow up in the first five minutes of the film - you're bored

Okay, I didn't explain correctly:

It's not that I dont like the character development, I just hated those characters. I absolutely loved Cry_Wolf and 90% of the movie was character stuff and I loved it because I loved the characters. These people were stupid, thats all.

They're not stupid, they're normal.
