just curious to see what Steven King movie people liked the most, for me it would have to be the shawshank redemption

I'm really torn between the Shawshank Redemptions and Dead Zone.

Although I think Shawshank stands up better over time, I'm gonna bite the flexible bullet and go with Dead Zone.

I voted for Misery, screenplay penned by William Goldman.  Shawshank is great, sure, but for suspense and craft and cast and true to the book (sorry Shining), I think Misery gets the nod for the most solid adaptation.

Pet Semetary, no question. It's taken me years to get over that movie. I'm still not sure if I can watch it anymore. It's not the main plot but a certain subplot that gets under my skin.

The sister use to scare the Sh*t outta me when I was younger. And I find it amazing how many great movies Stephen King has spawned when they're lined up like that. A lot of greats, but I gotta give it to The Green Mile.

The Shining

From an excellent novel, adapted and made in to a classic Kubrick movie..

Intelligent, adult and thought provoking.. Everything a movie should be.

This film is everything the novel wasn't which really miffed Stephen King..

The Shining was an odd movie, but I have to say that it's my favorite just because of that one line. "Heeeeere's Johnny!" Gotta love Jack...

I've never seen a Steven King movie nor read a Steven King book...I need to check out Cell...I saw it and wanted to get it...but didn't.

As good as I find the Shining, I went with The Green Mile. It was a character driven film with a great angle of weirdness to it. I enjoyed the setups and payoffs and found it to be an overall very good film. Sute, it's long, but it used its time wisely.

The green mile I think is the most faithful adaptation, it's almost word for word(probably why it's so long), I remember seeing it in the theater(luckily it wasn't R here), and my ass was sooooooooo numb at the end, but I still think it was great, it needed that time for us to get to know all these characters.  it is a wonderful film, pure KING.

The thing with Stephen King is that adaptations of his books are either really good (Pet Semetary, Misery, Shawshank, Green Mile) or really bad (DreamCatcher, Sleepwalkers, The version of The Shining that he was more involved in).  Based on what's up there, I'd put Misery and Shawshank at the top of the list, followed closely by Christine (awesome car).

If I had to pick a work that isn't listed, I would go with The Stand or his contribution to the first Creepshow film, where he played a man who touched a meteor and basically turned into a tree.  "Jordy Vale, you lunkhead!" Great Stuff!  Actually, now that I think about it, his contribution to the second Creepshow was pretty badass too.  The one with the big black blob in the water that surrounded the raft that the kids were on.  Classic.


Anybody lookign forward to the new made for tv movie?  It's called desperation right?

Pet Semetary was one of the few movies that I found to be really creepy.  To me it's one of those flicks that sticks with you after you watch it.  How many crappy so called scary movies can say that today?    

I voted for the Shining because that movie actually had me scared. But Misery was a close second. Come on... Am I just sick because when she broke his feet I just died with laughter.. It was so creepy and yet it was hilarious...

The Shining was actually scary. Most other films by Stephen King had me laughing because of how stupid it was. *Cough* IT *Cough* Pet Semetary*. Good choice, the Shining is definately the best.
