Merchant Ivory's GODZILLA by Sean Whitley - Short - Frilly costume art-house epics get sent up in this tale of a young woman in Victorian London who shocks her aristocratic family and friends by falling in love with a new gentleman suitor:  Godzilla!  10 pages - doc, format 8)

This was alright as a goof.  Never seen a script for a trailer.  Good job -- condensing the story like that.  I could see it.

But it takes the joke a little too far, I think, and begins to wear it thin.  I woulda' stopped it at page four, after he comes up out of the water and roars.  The rest wasn't as funny.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. I have some questions about scale though - exactly how big is Godzilla? Is he a man in a suit or a city-smashing behemoth? I think that latter would be funniest - if we just see gigantic scaly feet and the characters looking skywards. Ten minutes is too long though, you could condense that to half the length and still get the gag.

It put me in the mind of a sketch on the notoriously hit-and-miss movie, Amzon Women on the Moon. In it a TV show investigates the notion that Jack the Ripper may have been none other than the Loch Ness monster. Bullshit or Not?!
