I just finished reading On the Run: A Mafia Childhood, by Gregg and Gina Hill; the son and daughter of Henry Hill; who was immortalized by Ray Liotta in the film Goodfellas.

As a fan of Goodfellas, I always wanted to know what became of Henry Hill once he went into witness protection and this book -which was published in 2004-, is quite informative, as it spans from 1980 through to 1998.

Although it covered some fairly heavy subject matter, I found it to be a fast and enjoyable read. There were also some interesting photos in the book of the real Henry Hill, Tommy DeSimmone (played by Pesci in Goodfellas) and James Burke (played by De Niro in Goodfellas)

Most of the drama in the story came from Henry Hill and his inability to adjust to the straight life; this was primarily due to him being a drug addict and alcoholic. One of my favorite passages in the book was when Gregg said 'With a father like mine, my way of rebelling was to behave." But don't let that fool you; even though Gregg was a good student, he and his father had many violent confrontations.

I recommend this book to anyone who liked Goodfellas.
