I got the 2006 remake of The Wicker Man (Unrated DVD Version) from Netflix and the disc proclaimed "With shocking alternate ending!" which admittedly, always makes me laugh and speak those words in a booming voiceover manner. Anyway, I watched the film and started looking for this ending, and I believe it was incorporated into the movie itself which lead me to wonder: what is the non-shocking normal ending?

I'm going to guess the theatrical release had a different ending than the DVD release, so can anyone divulge what this other ending is?

Never could sit through the remake in its entirety but two people have told me the theatrical version ends with Nicholas Cage being burned inside the Wicker Man, just like in the original. Apparently, in the remake, they also added a scene in which the cult selects the next victim for sacrifice.

What's this "shocking alternate ending" all about?

I wish I knew. The DVD version also ends identical to the original, but without the happy little song. I'm hoping someone out there subjected themselves to both versions. Beyond the questionable storyline, it honestly wasn't that bad. I've seen worse.

I saw this in the cinema, and i actually had a grin on my face when Cage was burnt in the Wicker thing. I feel the movie was trying too hard to be modern. Like at the scene after Cage dies. But hey, that's Hollywood for ya.

Quoted Text Alternate ending: Malus is held down and his legs are broken at the knee. A wire mesh helmet is placed over his head and live bees are poured in. After he passes out, the helmet is removed and he is revived with a shot of adrenalin in the neck from his med-kit. Throughout this, he asks how can he be a good sacrifice if he does not believe in their religion? The movie proceeds along the theatrical version except the credits begin after the burning wicker man's head falls off. The "6 month later" scene is missing.

Thanks Don. I'll be visiting that site quite a bit, but unfortunately The Wicker Man on there is the DVD version as it had the leg breaking scene and no six months later. Bummer.

That's a heck of a site though. Wonder how they keep that legally going...
