I'm sad to hear that David Goyer has now left The Flash project! I found out yesterday over at suoerherohype.com and I was very disappointed. Goyer seemed very passionate about the project in his various interviews. I don't really think much of The Flash, I've only read a few of the comics and I watched the live-action TV series when I was a kid, but I've always thought that it has great potential as a film. I think it could push the boundaries of visual and audio effects even higher.

This seemed to be what Goyer was hoping to do, but as always, the studio wanted something else. I think Warner Brothers have done themselves out of money already, because whatever comic book franchise Goyer seems to touch always turns into gold dust, just look at the Blade films and Batman Begins.

I think people should give Goyer more of a chance with these films. His scripts are usually very dark, probably too dark for some producers, but they're still cool and I think this darker style should have been applied to the Ghost Rider film, which he also wrote a script for but was also rejected. And little did we know that he even wrote a script for Doctor Strange and even a Venom/Carnage script! Man, I would love to read these to see how they would have went!

And only a few days after David Goyer announced his departure from The Flash, Warner Brothers have announced Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum) as the new director. Now that was done in a flash wasn't it? LOL!

First they boot Whedon off of Wonder Woman and now this.

Personally, I think Whedon was dragging Wonder Woman along for too long. I was waiting for him to pull out. It was the same with Kevin Smith with The Green Hornet. But I really thought David Goyer's version with Ryan Reynolds in the lead role was going to kick a**! I was particularly interested in seeing the technology and effects Goyer was going to be using for the film. I wonder what Levy's version will be like. It'll definately be brighter than Goyer's, I know that much. I think The Flash should be more of a comedy, but Goyer was going to do this anyway only with a slightly darker edge to it, which to me actually sounds cooler.

(And btw, what happened to my title for this thread? ;))  

Well would you rather have these comic book movies now and have them suck or would you rather wait and have them rule? You can't rush brilliance. I think Smith and Whedon would've done amazing jobs with their respective projects. I would've waited for Whedon's Wonder Woman forever and ever. Just because I'm such a huge fan of his and I know it would absolutely rock the house. But, as it turns it, it is not to be. So we have to accept that and move on. Sigh.

Anyway, it is definitely a shame to see Goyer go. This is the guy who brought us Batman Begins for Christ's sake. Sure, he also brought us Blade: Trinity, but that is just one little bump in a very smooth career. It's a shame that Warner Bros. has decided to lighten it up. The darker versions of stuff are always better. Shawn Levy I don't think is the right guy to take over. I mean, I liked both of the Cheaper by the Dozen movies as far as they went, but Night at the Museum was just a load of absolute crap. Then again, it's all script-dependant, so we'll see how it goes when they announce the new writers for the project.

I think some elements from Goyer's script are going to make it into the new one, whoever writes it. That's the only piece of good news I've heard on this project since Goyer's departure! Apparently, Goyer wanted to use both Wally West and Barry Allen in the same film. I've never seen two different people in the lead role before in these types of films! I think that would have been intriguing to see. It definately would have set this film apart from all the others.
