I have a scene where a woman is undergoing a regression.  Initially, we are in the dr's office, but as the session continues, I need to show the action from within the patient's meditative state.

Can someone offer some advice on how best to format this? Right now, I just have the patient's actions written as action within the scene with the heading:

INT. DR. FREEDMAN'S OFFICE - NIGHT

DR. FREEDMAN

Good. Step closer to the door and just put your hand on the doorknob.  You are safe.

Sophie appears to step to the door, looking at the doorknob.  Her breath quickens accompanied by a pounding heartbeat as she reaches for the doorknob. Dr. Freedman notes Sophie's increased agitation in the otherwise quiet office.

DR. FREEDMAN (CONT'D)

That's it.  Relax and breathe

I would have all of what Dr. Freedman says as a V.O and have what is happening labled as a regression or flashback.

You can cut back to the office for the doctor to note her agitation. Just label everything as flashback or present.

That's what I would do anyways.

Even though it would be flashbacks, I would use INSERTs and BACK TOs if the sequences aren't too long.
