If anyone is interested, Script Magazine have an article this month by Simon Beaufoy on writing the screenplay for Slumdog Millionaire and it just happens to be the free sample article they have for download from their website...

Just finished this script (read it at work over the last two nights haha), have to say I understand why the film has received so much praise and can't wait to go see it.

The script has a really unique story to tell and the execution of it is amazing. The cuts between time are really easy to follow and help to form a great script. Amir is a really strong character but he is backed up by supporting characters that are well rounded and have their own arcs. There really isn't any part of the script that felt weak.

Some of the techniques used by Simon Beaufoy seemed strange to me. Just some of the slugs were repeated, some of the action paragraphs were 7-8...9 lines long. I'm not criticising him or the script, but it just seems strange to see such a sucessful script have things like that that go against what is preached to new writers. I guess that's for a thread that has been around a while though.

Can't wait to go see the movie now and it will be the first time where I've read the script before watching the film.
