SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  I'm new

Just registered after browsing the site for a few days.  I'm brand new to script writing.  I originally set out to write a full length, but figured I should start out smaller.  Just want to get these thoughts I have out of my head by putting them on paper.  I just finished writing a short.  I've had many rewrites so far and need to edit the one I have a little more.

Before I start writing anything else, I plan on reading a lot more scripts.  I've read Steve Meredith's work and I really enjoy it.  I found some of his work in the unproduced section.

Welcome to the group, Jake, now wipe your feet.

It's easier for a new guy to get a short read than a feature.  Read other people's work and comment on them.  It'll help you get read.

Hey Jake, welcome. Put your jacket on the peg provided.

As Phil said, reading others will get them to read yours.

Hope to see some of your stuff up here soon.

Thanks.

I'm looking forward to reading some scripts.  I obviously don't know anything, so I don't offer too much.  I can tell the writer if their script kept my interest and whether or not I liked their piece.  I guess that's good enough.

That's all I did when I first started too.  It's fine, and you'll learn how better to shape your own that way too!

Oh yes, Welcome!

While the reviews of an 'experienced' reader is always good, the newbie opinion is just as important.  The newbie may not be able to fill in the gaps as well as an experienced reader, but that means that he can point out the weaknesses in a script.

Now read some scripts (preferably without reading other reviews) and let us know what you think.

I'm not telling you.  I don't want anyone else to have them.
