I've written scenes like this before, but I never know if I'm getting it right. When we stay in the same location, but go to a different time, how do we reflect this in the sluglines? Is it as simple as...

Quoted Text
INT. BAR - NIGHT

Blah blah blah.

INT. BAR - LATER

More blah blah blah.

Or is there more to it? I feel like I'm being dense even having to ask.

That's exactly how I would do it.

I normally drop the INT. BAR part and just put LATER

Yeah, LATER would amount to a secondary slugline and since there isn't a location change, using it alone is completely acceptable. It's about the best way to do it.

Agree with Ste and George...use a Mini Slug in this case, that just reads as "LATER".

You don't want to to use identical SLUGS in a row...ever.

Aside from the technical details that have been dealt with...I'd say it would be good to show the change visually as well. Change the lighting, clientele, show people doing different things...maybe the bar staff are cleaning up as it's just about to shut or whatever.

I'm sure you've probably done that, but I just thought I'd mention it.

There's a million different ways you can do that...show him drinking his first pint, then see him put it down next to 6 empties...
