Hi SimplyScripts. My name is Miles. I'm 18 years old from Lawton, Oklahoma. Writing is something I have been doing off and on for most of my life, but I'm really trying to get serious about it. As of now I have no scripts, short or feature length, but I'm working on changing that.

Anyone with any advice for essentially a first time screenwriter is welcome to send me a message, it would be greatly appreciated.

Read scripts.  See how they're formatted and how the stories are told. And don't feel intimidated in reviewing anyone's scripts because you're new.

Enjoy!

No time like today to start writing. Dig in a wealth of knowledge here and remember, there is no such thing as a bad script, just bad reviewers ;-)

Seriously sock man nailed it. don't be afraid to speak your mind and get to know the people here.

And by all means, write something. Start with a 3 or 4 pager. Put it out there and allow yourself to be reviewed. It may sting or it may make your day but it is always informative.

Take care and welcome.

My advice is to fall in love. I don't mean with someone, although that is FANTASTIC, but I mean with STUFF.

If you can find the things that are the oil for your wick, then you are ahead of everyone else.

While you're falling in love with STUFF, learn the craft in the forms that you are attracted towards. Screenplays? Novels? Maybe you're not a writer after all but the director at heart? A writer/director? Whatever. Just explore yourself and your passions. You are young and have the world by the tail.  ;D

While you work, remember: Enjoy yourself!!!

My message to you - and this will become increasingly clear if you stay here for long enough - is this: don't let Jeff put you off. :)

Oh, and apart from that: plan before you start a script, don't be afraid of writing a crap first draft because writing is re-writing, and have faith in the story you're telling.

Good luck, and see you around.
